Pin and weld removal???

Anyone know of a gunsmith local to the Portland/tigard area that could removed a p&w muzzle device and rethread so I can run something else?

Yeah, with no obvious weld I would think maybe silver solder and the seller just said the wrong thing not realising there is a difference

Koonce Custom Gunworks in Salem removed my pin/welded AK muzzle brake that my Meridian Defense Pestilence came with , and installed (pin/welded) the one I purchased so I could use one of my new cans on it. He's a one man show, but good communications, and had it done in a couple of days, which was nice.

Curt's Discount Shooters Supply recently did a pin and weld removal along with a reinstall on one of my ARs. I went from a brake to a QD suppressor mount. They said in general you can safely do two pin and welds per barrel before it becomes problematic.

I could do it but not right now. This belly thing has me laid up good. I would recommend @AME Firearms

And removing a p&w isn't always the easiest thing to do. Not sure what you would do with a single cut file. Other than mess up some threads

Could be that you do a P&W differently than the two I have removed with a file. Those only had a spot weld over the pin on the muzzle device and once I got the weld filed down past the weld the pin just dropped out I did have one that didn't have a pin that they tack welded at 4 spots right were the muzzle device met the barrel like the one in this photo. That one I left alone!
