so a fellow forum member was going to purchase this for his Tacoma (3rd gen) which was on the fitment list. We discovered however while attempting to test it out that though the outside of the plug looks the same and half the harness plugged in, the side going to the pedal would not. It seems that Toyota changed some internals to the plug and newer pedal commanders have said changes made to fit all models. Mine would Appear to be an older one (pre 2016?) and will most likely only fit 2015 and older models on the fitment list (and I have tried to edit it accordingly).
I recently got myself an 06' 4Runner and it had this Pedal Commander installed (non Bluetooth model).
If you don't know what these are they just plug in between the harness of your e-throttle equipped vehicle at the pedal and they change the throttle input signal to greatly increase throttle response, or reduce it if so desired. It will subsequently change the shift points as well, or it is at least perceived to be the case. I've read of plenty of people who do not care for the factory feel of the 4th gen 4Runner throttles and similar year Tacoma's and FJ's. For my personal preference I've found the factory throttle to be fine for my needs so I removed it.
It has 4 settings; Eco, City, Sport, Sport+, with an additional 8 levels per setting(-4 up to +4). Takes just a moment to install. If you find your Toyota to have dismal throttle response then this may be for you! It does not increase power but with the response time your 'off the line' and 0-60 times will improve. These are things I enjoy but I let my motorcycle fulfill that role.
At the bottom is a list of all the vehicles It should fit.
