To be fair, almost all " news" is garbage.

My ballot was dropped off about a week ago... hence I have absolutely no more patients for political news. So I went to BBC news for something more refreshing and all they would talk about is the US election!!!! Even NHK (Japan) news spends an inordinate amount of time on the US election.

YES! All news is garbage! But there is garbage that I take out to the curb once a week and then there is garbage in the cesspools at Hanford (Drudge).

Maybe Propaganda is there for your benefit ? I don't know, would it be considered Orwellian ? , that the Gov. repealing the Smith-Mundle Act of 1948, in 2012 . To end the ban of U.S. government created propaganda from being broadcast to American public. The US Fed. Gov. supported this legislation as a positive action of 'Public Transparency' allowing Americans the freedom see American government propaganda.

Sitting on my bookshelf...I have a nice hardcover copy of both 1984 and Animal Farm.
Both are excellent reads....never thought that either would be non fiction.

What I've learned today:

All politicians lie.

This is true.

It's also true that We The People don't have to put up with this. There is no reason why we should tolerate being lied to by our ELECTED REPRESENTATIVES.

At the point that a politician wins and swears his oath, he should have two choices...speak the truth or say no comment. If a politician lies, he should be...

• Impeached and removed from office immediately...and never allowed to hold public office again.
• Personally Fined a MINIMUM of $100K
• Serve a minimum of 1 year in jail...with no time off for good behavior.

I'm also good if you want to make the fine a million dollars and 5 or 10 years in prison.

Now in order to make this happen, We The People would need to wrest control back from the tyrants. But the lying has become so pervasive that most people don't even think of it as improper anymore. It's simply what politicians do. They do it, however, because we let them.

To the OP. Welcome to now. I can't believe some people claimed to be surprised at Biden's decline. Is it their fault or reliance in the mainstream media?

Most people who watch that must have faith in it or why bother? I have more faith in independent media as well as some foreign press. At least they point in directions or stories to check.

As long as the mainstream refuses to check and correct itself, it will seem to be nothing but paid ads for whatever conglomerates will pay.

Anybody remember when the Legacy News was clutching it's pearls and warning us not to pay attention to any sources of news other than them? We were supposed to only listen to "Trusted Sources" because just anyone could put up false information on the Web. Only the Legacy News was trustworthy! Don't let yourself be mislead by those outsiders! They will lie to you and we will always tell the truth!

Well, a major portion of the US population went ahead and looked at the other sources, and found that the Legacy News was lying on a regular basis. So what did they do to address this? "Scary Poppins" was the answer, but between their choice of leadership, and the fact that the First Amendment was getting in the way, government censorship was a dead end. Thankfully. But the idea is not dead. They are just waiting for another chance.
