Over 125,000 Oregon Republicans didn't vote in 2022.
Measure 114 passed by just under 25,000 votes.
Kotek beat Drazan by just under 67,000 votes.
Over 87,000 Oregon Republicans didn't vote in 2024.
We lost SD 27 by just over 2,100 votes, giving Democrats a Senate supermajority.
We lost HD 22 by 81 votes, giving Democrats a supermajority in the House.
We need to chase ballots. We need to win the center. We need to win elections.
Yes, we are harmed by Portland idiocy. But we are victims of apathy."

I have to wonder, how many of those missing votes were in counties that people have given up on?

I've only lived here a few years. My limited take is a lot of Libertarian or right leaning folks here simply don't vote if the candidate doesn't check all of their boxes (no candidate is perfect :/) - please tell me if I'm off base.

It's silly and self defeating.

You are correct. There is the constant "nobody is perfect" comment even on NWFA - a gun website. It's worse actually - there are a significant number of members of the "gun control" party here who bash the more pro-gun candidates.

We need total election reform. Only US Citizens can register to vote. Photo ID to vote. No motor-voter allowed. Gotta be alive. Can only vote once per election. No registering anyone to vote under age 18. All ballots received and counted on election day. No ballot harvesting allowed. No "mail-in" of filled-out ballots. "Mailing" blank ballots might be OK, but not filled-in ballots - only exceptions being for military and others with legitimate excuses, etc, etc. I'd think a ballot measure for such things would pass.

It'll pass right after the devil makes ice cream in heck

Judicial Watch filed the latest lawsuit after uncovering a broad failure to clean up voter rolls in dozens of Oregon counties.

In its complaint, Judicial Watch argues that Oregon's voter rolls contain large numbers of old, inactive registrations; and that 29 of Oregon's 36 counties removed few or no registrations as required by federal election law. Judicial Watch asserts that Oregon and 35 of its counties had overall registration rates exceeding 100%; and that Oregon has the highest known inactive registration rate of any state in the nation. In combination, all of these facts show that Oregon is failing to remove inactive registrations pursuant to Section 8(d)(1)(B) of the NVRA. The suit was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Oregon, Eugene Division, to compel the defendants to comply with their voter list maintenance obligations under Section 8 of the National Voter Registration Act of 1993 (NVRA).

"Dirty voter rolls can mean dirty elections," said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. "Oregon has among the dirtiest voting rolls in America and needs to clean them up ASAP!"

I don't think the WA voting rolls are any cleaner here lol.

A couple of years ago there were some shenanigans going on at the post office in Roseburg, ( a republican majority area) where they were holding on to thousands of ballots in the post office and not sending them to the elections office. I feel that situation was never properly investigated. That being said, whats to stop any nefarious actor in a post office to hide, bury, burn ballots. In counties that are mostly republican.

Spend some time in Southern Deschutes, Klamath, Lake, Harney, Malheur, Crook Counties and get out and meet the people, get off the grid, interface with them and perform a random sampling and you'll find those 25K votes 114 could have used - but didn't get.

There is now also a ballot measure with the Secretary of State - 2026-037, https://sos.oregon.gov/admin/Documents/irr/2026/037text.pdf

CAPTION
Amends Constitution: Requires in-person voting with photo identification; voter registration requires proof of citizenship; other provisions
Not yet collecting signatures. But please, when this starts, sign the petition to get this on the ballot. Needs 156,231 signatures.

Nearly everyone is on many 'government lists'; signing a petition will not change that status.
