dont need to debate, she has a machine gun :gun09: lol

seriously though, she answered the question flawlessly and hopefully opened the eyes of a couple of the students to make their own decisions. in fairness to some (note: some, not all) of the gun control advocates, many of them truly believe that what they are doing will actually make the world safe and are content with having the protection of others without having their own way of protecting themselves. now the thing a person like that gets kudos on, would be that they have no fear of someone doing them harm. a bit naive but peace is a state of mind.

I've met Betsy. I would have never guessed that she was strong a 2A supporter, much less a machine gun toting Democrat. It's a good lesson for me on stereotypes.

Betsy Johnson is the only Oregon State Senator who is a member of the Gun Owner's Caucus of the Democratic Party of Oregon (plus two House members). A good friend to the 2A cause in Oregon.

And that is the core of what most of those who would be considered "extreme" in ANY issue is. A person who truly, deeply, and unwaiveringly believe, that what they are trying to change, or trying to accomplish, will change "their" world for the better, no matter how "misguided" or "wrong" their attempts may seem.
This can be applied to Feinstein and the anti-gun lobby ("If nobody can buy these guns, we will be safe.")
As well as anti-gay lobby ("If they can't marry, we will be safe.")
Even to Ach-ma-can'tspellit's War against Israel ("If we eliminate them, we will be safe.")
Right down to cults and some off-shoot religions ("If we all believe, we will be safe.")

Ulterior motives aside, those who are full-bore into what that leader believes, fundamentally believe this is the case: If X thing happens, we who wanted this will be safe in our world.

...Now, are some of them wrapped in so much tin foil they can't see the real world? Yeah. Do these followers genuinely believe? Yeah. Can they be right? ...Don't know. Can they be wrong? ...Don't know.
