Are you a law abiding US citizen?Hello,
I haven't been through Washington in quite some time. Am I legal to bring a pistol or lever action with me on a trip?
Sorry if it's been asked, I searched the forum but didn't see anything.
Thank you.
Pretty sure Oregon and Washington are the same in that regard... meaning your permit won't show up on a plate run, but will show up on a license check.I'm legal. Just wondering as a Oregon CHL holder, would that show up running plates. If it did, would I be legal with a 10 round pistol/lever action.
Thank you for the responses!
It's legal to possess guns with higher than 10 round capacity, you just can't buy them anymore here.If it did, would I be legal with a 10 round pistol/lever action.
I thought that was only for Washington residents? Its illegal to import standard mags into the state. It's legal to possess guns with higher than 10 round capacity, you just can't buy them anymore here.
A Washington resident may return to the state with any magazines of a capacity of 10 rounds or more that he/she took out of the state.I thought that was only for Washington residents? Its illegal to import standard mags into the state.
I'm not an FFL but my understanding is the import language would relate to a sale. For instance, you can bring it in if shooting then taking it back home. That said if the OP has a gun w/ a 10 round mag, bring that.I thought that was only for Washington residents? Its illegal to import standard mags into the state.
Lever gun is fine. Pistol depends on if it has threaded barrel.Hello,

Good to know.NO non-Washington resident may bring in any magazines with a capacity of 11 rounds or more into this state.
Nope, no one can bring in a standard capacity magazine unless they possessed it legally, pre-ban, prior to taking it out of the state. Non-residents should not enter the state ever with mags holding 11 rounds or more... we are now the same as California *sigh*I'm not an FFL but my understanding is the import language would relate to a sale. You wont get a concrete answer unless you pay a lawyer, and even then there can be an opinion until someone actually becomes a case law example.Any cited clarification on mag capacity going in and out of Washington as an Oregon resident would be greatly appreciated. I understand the concept of "Concealed is concealed" but if I am ever forced to use my firearm I want to be in the clear as much as I possibly can. Obviously I would prefer to carry a 17 round mag over a 10 round mag.... but for the time being I will just carry two 10 round mags while at work until I get a concrete answer.
If you're in a defensive shoot, a 10+ magazine is the least of your worries.I have also wondered about this. The language in regards to "import" is vague. Either that or I am slow.... I am an Oregon resident and have both my Oregon and Washington permits. I spend time in Oregon and Washington daily due to my career. While at work I carry a 10 round mag simply due to the fact I go into Washington. Ive been told that as long as you're leaving with the mag (11+) that you crossed state lines with you're good. On the flip side i've been told that as an Oregon resident taking a standard mag across Washington state lines is illegal. In no way am I concerned about getting caught in a traffic stop or whatever. My concern is if I were forced to use my firearm in Washington and upon confiscation of my firearm they hit me with a criminal charge for my magazine..... I have zero faith in the Left coast justice system and I want to minimize the the length of rope that they can hang me with.
