I LOVE airshows.

Looks interesting with a tailgate format, but per vehicle $ is a bit spendy.

Anyone have experience at this venue?

Do you know if this one is like the Hilsboro one where they don't let you bring in your own water and charge you unbelievable gouging prices to buy water? If it's not that scam one, this looks like fun! Love airshows! Bring something to make shade if it's hot and sunny.

They didn't have it last year due to covid but the year before things went quite well airshow wise. things stayed pretty much on schedule and the performances were awesome.

The biggest problem was handling the traffic. The airport is in Highway 18 and that is one busy road, as it leads to ocean beaches and also Oregon's biggest casino. Put a really busy road together with first time traffic direction and there were lots and lots of very angry people. Hopefully they will have learned from that this year.

As far as the grounds, there is plenty of room and it looks like they have spacing and such figured out.

And that is all I know.

No concession stands due to CV; guests to bring their own food and drinks. Not quite a NASCAR tailgate party, but perhaps close LOL

Thanks for the info. We're finalizing plans now. If we go, we'll either bug out right after the Thunderbirds, or wait it out until after the fireworks show. We could visit the museum across the street to kill time if necessary.

I recall similar traffic backups at Hillsboro...

Oh man, I remember one time coming back from the beach on a summer weekend it took almost 2 hours to get from Newberg to I-5 (a distance of about 15 miles). No accidents or construction, just summer gridlock! If u time it wrong you're screwed on that road.

Just so you know, the museum is $20.00 a head, $15.00 for veterans. They may have an air show discount though.

Not at those prices, even the "Cheap Seats" is over $170 per rig! Nope not gonna feed the machine, especially since there is no carnival style food vendors, Taint worth it!
That was my first thought too when I saw the price. But then I got to thinking our fam has spent pretty much -0- on travel this last year and it's so rare for us to go to an air show. So I'm kind of of undecided. I think last time we went to mt hood air museum and madras museum it was maybe $30 per person? so getting close to same price depending on how many going (FWIW).

I know I looked at going to local air shows in the past and that "u can't bring any water in but we will gouge u to buy our water" was 100% a no-go for me. Even if it was free I would not go with that kind of a deal going on. But them trying to make it work financially in covid times without any concession revenue? I do kind of understand why the price has to be fairly high. I love the "each car has their own tailgate party section" idea though. That's great for me. As long as they don't screen the choice beverages and cigars I bring in! :s0108: Plus I can take photos etc with freedom to move or setup tripod or whatever which I like a lot. Pricing reminds me of drive in movies where they charge per car ha ha.

My thought at the moment is I will go if the family is into it and I have some way to avoid/minimize the traffic. Traffic is #1 concern for me personally. Maybe high price will help reduce traffic? I have no idea really on that.

Bottom line it's like everything else everyone has to decide if it's worth it to them or not. And I totally understand saying it's not worth it. I Used to go to lots of them as a kid. I was just watching a documentary on Memphis belle b-17 yesterday and remembered crawling all over inside a b-17 at an airshow when I was a kid. Good memories!
