Oregon Oregon 114 Update (questions)

Have you seen the pistol version of 15-22? If you could figure out a way to mount a folding brace it would be a nice small package. Especially with a binary trigger. But for $100 more the Stribog is much nicer and more accurate gun imo (I have 15-22 Rolfe and the Stribog). Also the g36 rifle is about $50 more. Mags are very high quality and 30 rounders are $12 from beretta. Just throwing out some options that I've had good luck with fyi. Stribog and g36 are my favorite 22s.

G36 $511 (note that I added the rail with integral scope and the bipod, total cost for those two items was $71). Comes with a lower profile top rail. Stock folds which makes it a real handy package.

I thought I saw a folding stock/brace adapter for the 15-22 someplace. I am now on the fence between a 15-22 rifle with red dot set up or the 15-22 pistol. I just received 2 sets of MBUS sights in a trade with a forum member a few days ago. The pistol doesn't come with sights.

However it has the MLOK, and I can put the same (less than 90 degrees) forward grip on the pistol . Plus they can share magazines. It looks like all of these types of firearms have a lot of plastic.

Mags that I have to get before March:

1 ten pack of Magpul mags for Glock 19
Another Dozen 15-22 mags
A dozen steel 30 rd ar mags
6 20 round straight AR mags
10 Steel AK 30 round mags
10 Bulgarian Bakelite AK mags
Maybe 6 Springfield XD Mags
Etween those mags and my current mags, that should be a lifetime supply.

Go pistol for anything 50-100 yards if you want to go further just get the 15-22 rifle though I will say the 15-22 AR Pistol is lighter and easier to manipulate. Owned both they are excellent 22s my fiancée loved the AR Pistol version way more due to the size but even the rifle was sweet. Threw a bipod on it and it was a tack driver at 100 yards with a cheap 3-9. March of 2026? I thought there were bill still in session banning mags? If not that would be sweet if we still have much time to acquire more mags!

My 15-22 the buffer tube is a molded piece of plastic that's an inseparable part of the reciever. It's all one molded piece of plastic. You would have to cut off the buffer tube part then mount a pic rail to it somehow. I'm sure it can be done but it woudl be better to see someone else do it first so you know what is left of the receiver to bolt to after it's cut off.

The pistol would be fun if you could get a folding stock on it. If you can't I wouldn't bother with the pistol personally as it's so long. Personally the only way I woudl bother with a 15-22 is if I was going to put a binary trigger in it. That's the only reason I keep mine. Even so I can't recall the last time I've shot it. Been several years. I shoot every other .22 I have before that one cuz it doesn't feel like a real gun. FE just no comparison to the all metal Stribog which is a clone of the 9mm one.

IMO design criteria of 15-22 was "make it as cheap as possible but still reliable, no matter how cheap it feels". No attempt to make it feel like a real gun. G36 design criteria seems to be "make as close to real g36 as possible while being able to sell at a reasonably low price". Stribog criteria seems to be "just make the 9mm version but in .22 and give it a longer barrel". $100 more but more than twice the gun. All imo (I've had around 60-70 .22s and still own 20-30 so I have some experience with different brands/models). Hammerli h1 pistol can be had for $239 on sale. Current cheapest on it seems to be $309 I don't own one but they look great for the price. Same mags as g36 or beretta arx160 which is another one to look at. I think @Bolt_308 has the beretta. Sig 522 is another well made fun .22 but only available used now.

It has a Magpul BTR "stock" on it so I apologize for my ignorance on the issue as looking at it online it is classified as a pistol.

Please note, I am saying this with all kindness and sincerity: This is not an area where you want to be buying, obtaining, or assembling anything without knowing exactly what you are doing and the relevant laws. Doing it wrong can land you in a 10 by 10 concrete box at Club Fed or cost you lots of Dineros. We also need to keep up on legal updates and the direction the wind is blowing in the ATF office. Words and definitions very much matter when dealing with NFA items.

It could be appealed to SCOTUS but that's not likely.

March 2026 is for a different law that piggybacks off 114. The litigation currently hasn't effected that law.

I was under the impression that the current law causes m114 to start March 26 irregardless of the appeal. Someone correct me if I'm wrong with text from the bill plz. I may well be wrong.

Don't feel bad, everyone is confused about this damn thing. I'm constantly losing track of it myself.

That's essentially what it does, it also raises fees even further.

I believe the delay date was in HB3075 which did not pass. Did they slip it into another law that passed?

They sort of did it with SB 243, they added must have a valid permit to purchase, but there's nothing outlining what the requirements for that are in that bill. I don't see anything about mag restrictions in 243.

Interesting, I read it and it does indeed require a permit to purchase. I wonder how FFLs are going to handle that.
