To all here , please note that I am not "calling anyone out " or saying just what one can post or not post.

I am however suggesting that the overall tone or topics here , be something of some substance.
Post worthy if you will...

Granted that will mean many different things to all here on our forum.
I used the term "our" because it is our forum...
We who post here can , make it look good , serious in its intent , open and friendly to all gun owners ...who wish to further their knowledge of firearm and other related subjects as well as protecting our gun rights.

So what is my point ...?
Good question...
Again I am not saying what to post...or that you can post this but not that...
I am however asking that what is posted , be of some importance or something worth knowing and not similar to what is seen on Facebook etc....

Again what that may be will be different for everybody....but ...
What is posted here in this or any section of our forum , can be seen by anyone who visits here on our forum and may be seen as what represents NWFA and gun owners as a whole.

Thank you ,
Andy

Agreed @AndyinEverson, Well said. The Face Book kind of feel of things here lately has been some what less appealing to our community then most of us would like!
The Off Topic thread is a nice place to share Non firearms related thoughts, questions, and observances, but really, the Inane brain fart type posts are really dragging us all down! I know, don't care, don't read, but think of the images we all take responsibility for when new members see this type of thing, and that could hurt us in more ways then we realize! What does it say about this community? What if a potential member decides this is just like all the other generic forums? What if that member decides to donate elsewhere? ALL that hurts US, the NWFA community, and hurts Joe's ability to provide the top shelf product that he does! No one is saying what to post and what not to, but please, lets keep with the general "FEEL" that we have always had that makes us more then all the other "Also's" forums and blogs!

Off-topic mixes things up and is like a spice, which of course should be always be used in moderation. All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.

One thing I've noticed. If it's in the "Off Topic" section it most likely won't be gun related. So I rarely visit that section. I could care less how many crazy posts go on in that section. I'm very thankful it's not mixed in with the gun related posts.

^. Variety is indeed the spice of life. To my thinking enjoy what one wishes, but don't sweat the rest. Because, well, it just doesn't matter. (And, yes, I've seen the unnecessary threads, and they are lamentable, but soon pass.)

Since we're talking about random stuff, including play: for many hours today I sat in the very hot sun, drank Sangria, read a history book, and listened to the birds sing and the laughter of my children. If there is a heaven, this is how I picture it.

Be joyful, friends. There are so many reasons to be so. :s0155:

You did indeed...
Short and effective kinda like a burst from a M60...but yeah you got it...:D
Andy
Here is a sling from an M60.

I joined Northwest Firearms 6 years ago to talk about FIREARMS.

Maybe I should look for another site for that?

took 6 years ? lol

NWF if you like
1) Like looking at the Classifieds
2) buying/selling guns
3) brushing up on canned gun wives tales
4) regurgitating tired, beat down subjects
5) learning about local and state firearms issues
6) listening to old GI's argue about new things
7) solidifying justification
8) Millennial/Baby Boomer race wars
9) laughing and shaking your head at people who take this webz site way too serious
10) learning about guns

and BTW this IS social media ......no amount of denial will change it.

I guess I disagree and agree a little.
I've come to understand one common theme on this site in my tie here.

There are some guys on here that feel more comfortable using this as a social media place to talk to like minded dudes about whatever.

More rules and warnings has the smell of a rules govern society.

Guys like us I tired of rules.

You don't have to reply or comment to lame topics.

Ifish 2.0?

Hope not.......

I'm kind of confused by the latest push to change this sites patron's viewpoints and postings.

I had always seen this sight as a place for those that don't do other social media's to have a social media.

Why have the off topic or other sections similar if not to be able to talk about off topic things?

To be clear :
I am not saying :
That we need more rules...
What to post...
How to word a post...
Don't talk or mention "Off Topic" subjects or even everyday thoughts...

I am suggesting however , that we try and keep our posts to subjects that are meaningful and have substance....
And again to be clear : Just what the terms "meaningful" and "substance" , will mean to people , will be different...

And yes I am well aware that this forum is a form of "Social Media"...I never said it wasn't , nor not to use it as such...

As for not reading or skipping those topics that have no interest...
That is great for you...
(As a individual , not you , as in anyone here who has posted...)
I was trying to point out that many folks other than you , will visit here...what they see and read , may be seen as a reflection a NWFA and gun owners as a whole.

My main point in my OP was just to get folks to think before you post....
I should have known better , than to try and suggest that idea...
