I understand we're waiting on arguments for M114. I am about to place an order for a custom semi auto pistol with a threaded barrel that accepts mags larger than 10 rds. Order lead time is 20-24 weeks. Is there a chance I purchase the pistol and can't take delivery? My brain isn't big enough to be able to think thru all the scenarios.

If you plan on getting a permit to purchase, no problemo. If not, you might have a problem.

If you're good with a permit to purchase, roll them dice!

Even if the "purchase" happens at order time? The transaction should be complete when I hit the pay button. After that it's just a background check or am I thinking about it wrong?

If they allow the permit to purchase program to go into effect, the FFL will be required to see your permit. The permit to purchase is essentially a permit to transfer. It just doesn't sound as cool.

I think you're thinking about it wrong. My assumption is that if the permit system is live, regardless of when you paid for it, you'll get nailed at the time of BGC.

As solvent said, "permit required" (including training requirement) for transfer at ffl is where you are going to run into m114 problems (if it becomes active again), unless the retailer you are buying it from all of a sudden says, "no guns shipped to Oregon".

I don't recall whether you would be able to get the mags with the gun or not. I would suggest re-reading measure 114 to get clarification on the mags.

I thought it was a comprehensive ban on firearms with mags greater than 10rds, and also, separately, there being a permit to purchase firearms 10rds or less.

That was the multi-issue argument in M114 case. You can't push two unrelated issues on one ballot measure.

No ban on firearms whatsoever. The ban is all about magazines. The permit to purchase would be for any firearm at all.

So given M114 is in effect, and you try to buy a 20 rd p322. Not permitted, so not to split hairs but that 20rd P322 is verboten.

No, the magazines would be. There are retailers who will ship a gun sans magazines but no discount will be given. You're not splitting hairs, you're just wrong.

You getting a platypus, huh?

Have you asked if you can pay extra for expedited production? If I recall, staccato will put you in front of the line for $400 extra and when you're talking about a platypus, you're a hair shy of $2k already so if time is potentially critical it may be worth it. I know I've paid expediting costs before. In fact, I have 3 custom holsters arriving that took a couple days to get shipped rather than a couple months. It was worth an extra $100 to get all 3 fast to me....

Also note, stealth arms will send you two 10 round mags, not 17 rounders. I just received mine a month ago.
