Ok, so I nerd out about this a little...

I haven't yet but will visit this museum

This website is the most informative site on the pair: https://www.northhollywoodshootout.net/

This story is just fascinating to me

I encourage a thorough review of this site.

Also, @OlegTheRussian you have any insight I would love to hear it!
BE THE BAD GUY.....
If you walk in the door with a gun, your walking out the door with a gun.
its not for look's.

Its not something you can take back.
it is a f-up.
One way ticket

Anyway. I'm gonna make a clone , Just for fun.

Have read that the AR used was a Bushmaster Dissipator with a Beta C mag.

Edit. I can't remember if the original one literally used, had an A1, C7 or the A2 upper shown in first picture..... Though that's a heck of a mashup...CAR style stock, A2 upper, Lonestar grip, A1 handguards, A2 flash hider.,..

No thanks.

However...I also think that you should be free to own whatever firearms you wish to own.
So....the rifle in the OP looks to be a fun project to assemble...and own...for someone , just not me.

We all have our interests...especially in firearms.
A while ago , I researched Alvin C. York's Long rifle ....and thanks to the University of Tennessee....
I was able to obtain photos of his actual rifle and recreate it...that was fun project for me.

So I can understand the desire to put together a firearm that was used by someone or used at an event that interests you.

Agree people should be able to re-create any gun they want. For me one of the last guns I would want to reproduce is from 2 idiots who saw the heat movie and decided to re-enact it. The very last gun I would want is some Nazi gun. I'd rather reproduce cool movie guns, guns used by Teddy Roosevelt, or other admirable people. But that's just me and to each their own.

I'd like an early Colt Sporter, but no desire to "whip up" a copy of these robbers guns.

I had to look this up in Wiki, because I didn't remember it, but I do now.
This was about 10 years after the Miami shootout and was another one that sent the gun control peeps into a whirlwind.

Already have one, but didn't learn about Notth Hollywood until 2014 or after. Don't even know when it went down.

A guy showed up at the range with a replica MP40 and fold out stock. It was heavy, very accurate, and a hoot to shoot.

To paraphrase Rod Stewart....
"Every war trophy tells a story...."

And just like every individual...each war trophy can have its own story to honor....
On many different levels and "sides".

Now some folks won't collect Third Reich era firearms or Imperial Japanese or Soviet Era firearms...etc...
Depending on the reason , I can understand some of the "Why"here.

Lots of reasons to collect and enjoy firearms....and no one has to have the same reasons.

it is wise however to not let your dislike or distaste for a firearm , where it came from , what markings are on it....
Lead you to denying someone else from collecting or even enjoying that firearm.
