I had a knife on my keychain but I forgot to remove it and it was confiscated at the airport. I don't remember what brand of knife it was I bought it several years ago. So I'm looking for a replacement. I don't know much about knives; I don't know which brands are good or what type of steel to look for. I'd like a folding, locking blade knife that fits on a keychain with a blade 2 to 3 inches long. It doesn't need to open fast or with one hand, I'd rather it stay shut securely in my pocket so I don't cut myself while I'm fiddling with my keys. I don't need a multi-tool, just a knife. I'd prefer not to spend more than $50 unless it's truly an amazing knife. Can I get some suggestions from you knife folks? Thanks!

Been using something like this as my key " keeper" for almost 30 years.

Why are you carrying a knife on your keys instead of clipped to your pocket?

If you just want a multi tool that doesn't take up extra room I'd look at the leatherman stuff - they have keychain models.

If I have anything on a key ring it's this. I don't see the point in having a 3" blade attached to my keys.

Everyone has their favorite way of doing things.
Personally, I prefer a knife with a deep carry clip.

This is a good point and maybe a knife clipped into the pocket would be better. I'm a nurse, though, and my scrub pants are like pajamas. I'm not sure they would hold a clipped knife securely. It might flop around a bit. I'll have to give this some thought.

Possibly clip it to the inside of your waistband? Unless you're using it regularly. Then that could be cumbersome.

They do make some very light weight packages nowadays.

I would get a Civivi mini praxis. About $30, rock solid and stays sharp a long time. D2 steel. I've had great luck with mine and rarely have to sharpen it. Can remove clip for in pocket carry. Every Civivi I have has been excellent quality and whatever they do to their D2 it outperforms other D2 and even superior steels.

How about the Civivi Baby Banter or Baby Banter 2? Anyone have experience with that?
