I've got a liberty colonial 50 that I need moved into my U-Haul truck, it's the low platform but I have no manpower. I tried Northwest safe but they are busy understandably.
Any suggestions? I'm in Elma.

If I can't move it before this Saturday I'm going to list it for sale. I've downsized quite a bit for this move.

Jim I would if I were closer and would love to say goodbye in person.

I have moved a 4 ton safe before with 2 people total and a lot of leverage.

I also moved a 700lb safe with myself and my teenage daughter at the time by taking the door off and just laid it on its back into my little utility trailer.

I would advise laying it down on its back on 2 or 3 1000lbs moving dolly's (cheap at harbor freight). Strap each dolly to the safe and then use a come a long with a tow web or something that is wrapped around the bottom of the safe to pull it up the ramp and that should pretty much do it.

I'd be dang careful about someone getting hurt or putting their back out trying to man handle it - especially you, it would be a bad way to start a new beginning…

IF these fine folks just do not seem to be enough then I would say take the door off of the safe and move it separately. Doors can be 1/3 to 1/2 of the total weight of the safe depending on the safe.

However it works I wish you the best and hope it is a safe and uneventful move.

I am not sure that I have the actual weight of your safe, saw somewhere around 1,000 lb.

If this is correct, you should be able to move it pretty easily with a rented large reclining dolly.

I have moved a pretty heavy one this way by myself, had to winch it up into and out of my van, but worked flawlessly.

See here if interested.

Go to Airgas & buy some helium. You may need 2 or 3 tanks or more. Take it home and fill the safe with the helium, don't overfill it for safety's sake. It''ll dent the floor or someone if the helium leaks out too fast. It's also been known to take out light fixtures and a few ceiling fans when overfilled. Tie a couple of sturdy ropes to it so when you get it outside it doesn't get away from you in the wind, or even worse if you overfilled it...up up & away. 🤬 Some help, with a few extra pounds or more on them, are a great addition for safety. It boosts their egos as well.. :)
Now gently push the safe in the direction it needs to go. Try not to hit the doors or the jambs, that just makes more work. Double check the winds before exiting the premises. Depending on where you live, you may want to get a 12 hour outlook before heading for the truck. Winds can be tricky.
After you've got the safe into the truck, GENTLY let some of the helium out so the safe sets safely and solidly onto the floor.
CAUTION...don't let all the helium out because you''ll want 'some' left in when you get the safe to a new location. Hopefully you have some helium left over so you can use it to move the safe into it's new home. Just reverse the moving procedure you used to load it to get it into its new home. THEN you let all the helium out!
Congratulations..you're now a safe mover!
