It most definitely wasn't the tides!22 miles up the Chetco puts it at about 400' elevation. I don't think it was the tides...
Groooaannn...If it was tide...then it would be clean , 'cause ya know laundry detergent....
Oh wait....tides...oops.....
My money is on thieves....sad to say.
Andy
Someone dropped a Sig P320 in it

I don't always see 'em right away, but I eventually see 'em all...
I'm betting it was those Maclean boys out shooting the chutes again! Better call on the reverend and let him know!No sir, it was stolen off the davit on my boat moored in Harbor Oregon, at the mouth of the Chetco river, and was found 22 miles UP river, or about half way to the Kalmiopsis wilderness (where we have a hunting cabin) - flat bottom jet boat territory. I can only reasonably sail .25 miles or so up river as my draft is nearly 8 feet. No idea how my dingy got there, they didn't steal the outboard jet, just the boat. I'd honestly thought I didn't secure it right or something, and that it was halfway to Japan by now. Looks like it must have been stolen, but I suppose someone could have found it. I still can't imagine what actually happened to it.
Legends were made that day! But the real surprise came with the giant trout they caught years laterI'm betting it was those Maclean boys out shooting the chutes again! Better call on the reverend and let him know!
Makes sense... I named my dinghy "Grower" cause every single time when I'd take it out and show it off everybody would laugh and point and call it ThumbalinaWell, around here small things can be worked up into really big things. Just wait!
I know that the Central Valley is really flat but as I recall the Sacramento River has some tidal influence up to Sacramento. That would be a heck of a tidal exchange to move the boat 22 miles upstream. One might think that the river elevation that for upstream would be far far above the biggest of tidal exchanges. Now, I only know that sh!t rolls downhill but a tide carrying a boat 22 miles upstream, c'mon
As a flatwater kayaker, I've always noticed that a light-moderate breeze will move me upstream even against the current. No reason a light aluminum empty dinghy wouldn't behave the same way.All joking aside....did someone steal it? Boats just dont go up river by themselves
LOL - it would have sunk in the harbor, they'd need a bigger boatAs a flatwater kayaker, I've always noticed that a light-moderate breeze will move me upstream even against the current. No reason a light aluminum empty dinghy wouldn't behave the same way.
But that doesn't explain the destruction. Maybe it was done by the thieves who stole it with all the OP's guns and magazines on board.
My sister lives in Antioch, which is on the delta, east side of the SF Bay. Checking the elevation of the waters edge in Antioch and Sacramento is less that 5 feet in about 40 miles. Yeah, it's flat.I know that the Central Valley is really flat but as I recall the Sacramento River has some tidal influence up to Sacramento.
Well, not with that attitude! In all seriousness folks, I fear that it might not float well...
Any word on the "gun collection"?Well it looks like my dingy that went missing in September has been found 22 miles up river. That'll buff right out, right?I wonder WTF actually happened to it... An elephant stepped on it? Rabid Stellar Sea lions? Birds?
