My father got this on trade in the south western US
.69 Cal Smoothbore Musket
Lock is marked T.W. PISTOR A SCHMALKALDEN
converted from flintlock to percussion in the 1840's
Missing it's ramrod, lock does function and bore is typical.
Nice brown patina, CVHP... Is carved into the cheeckpiece.
Valuation is difficult for the layman.

Dont believe so......not sure barrels were marked then.

Apparently the locks were sometimes bought from larger manufacturers, so when (sometime it's not) the barrel is marked that's usually the actual gunsmith.

I see no markings above the wood

If you remove the bands and remove the barrel from the stock under the nipple or bottom of the barrel there is prob proof marks.
very nice rifle. If you were not so darn far I'd be tempted.
