I read and really enjoyed Terry C. Johnson's series about the character Sam " Scratch" Bass and the rocky mountain fur trade.

(Applied Practical Mathematics, Question 1):
If your lawn is 14" high and your grass grows at a rate of 1" every 3 days how many days before your wife yells at you?

Question 2:
Two trains leave the station, one traveling at 35mph and the other at 55mph; which train should you make your escape on?
