An added benefit of ammonia is that it dissolves copper deposits (uncovering more KCl in pits underneath the copper layers) as well as acts as a 'surfricant' for better wetting action. It leaves the metal very 'dry' after cleaning though, so its a good idea to hit the bore with a patch of gun oil after the Windex. Ammonia is also very aggressive on metals in general which is why a few lightly wetted patches through the bore is better than squirting a whole bunch down there.
