Looks like another drug zombie as I call them. It is scary how often people like this seem to soak up rounds. Imagine she had a gun instead of a knife. She got up and picked up that knife again. If it was a gun she could have been firing.

Interesting to think about what if this woman had a pistol instead of a knife? What would the cops do? How would the factors of distance and time change? Would cover and or concealment come into play?

What if the woman came out with a rifle? Again what would cops do and how would the factors of distance and time change? Would the cops use cover and concealment? Just throwing out food for thought for us to think about our personal protection, not trying to be critical of cops in any way, shape, or form. This is kinda "don't bring a knife to a gun fight and as others said "suicide by cop", but it's interesting to think about other scenarios in terms of what would we do.

Video of cops reacting to perp with a long gun just for reference:

Also one thing to think about nowadays in terms of increased resistance to being incapacitated is armor. Thats another argument imo for the need to have adequate capacity to end the fight. Being able to shoot center mass, crotch, head (often on a moving target) as needed to stop the fight.

Body armor example:

Yep its no longer odd to read of some scum caught wearing soft armor. I like to practice shooting at the pelvic area for just this reason. If center shots don't seem to work aim lower. A hit here will at least make the scum drop even if it does not shut them off.

Agree and hips/crotch area moves the least when a person is moving. Center mass moves more, and head moves a LOT more. A person simply turning their head or moving their head in a split second to the side or up or down can mean the difference between a hit or a miss. I like the Clint smith drill of shooting all three areas center mass, crotch, head so one can be proficient and practiced in shooting all 3 areas until fight is stopped. Magazine capacity directly impacts ability to keep continuity of fire for that imo.

From time to time I get crap about carrying a gun that only holds 5 rounds.
This is a classic example of it not being a gun you go looking for trouble with, but perfect for getting me out of trouble.

I won't be seeking out a crazy person, but enough to move my family and myself away from where they knew she was. DR

Odds are VERY high you will never have to shoot so the round count will not matter. What this does do is make a perfect example of why 5 rounds could leave you trying to beat some kook with the empty gun you have in hand. Kooks like this do not only attack Police. If some kook like this charges someone FEW can actually hit the said kook 5 times out of 5 shots. A LOT of shooters would be lucky to make one hit out of 5 shots if someone out of the blue charges them. Again though almost all of us will go our entire life and never have to shoot anyone.

And god help you if they have a higher capacity pistol or rifle (which is very likely in this area). And it's likely there may be more than one perp (in this area annyway). Even at the street takeover last week the perps were shooting 300Blk. For me I want the best tools in the toolbox that I can reasonably and comfortably carry because you never know what the attack will look like or when it will occur. For me an important tool in addition to any firearms is pepper spray so you can have the non-deadly force attack bases covered.

If I'm in a gun fight I want the most effective weapon I can get. For example a short rifle instead of a pistol if possible. A lot of times having a very effective weapon may mean that there is no "gunfight". There is a "shooting". A shooting of the criminal who was trying to kill you or yours.

Also I woudl not assume there is a safe place to retreat to or even that you can retreat. Not all the perps are drug zombies or simple muggers and again we never know what an attack may look like, they may be well armed, very determined, or even somewhat trained.

Also having a 19+1 pistol vs a 5 round revolver may not necessarily "mean that you shoot more, it may mean you have to manipulate the gun less" (complements to Clint smith for the quote).

Excellent answer and why I have now gone back to carrying a Glock 19. It's getting crazy out there and I hope to never have to pull it but, if I do, I want to get the job done! :s0155:

Proof that 10 rounds is probably not enough?

High capacity pistols...giving hope to people with low capacity accuracy standards since the late 1920s

Accuracy and penetration, have been replaced with capacity and expansion.

I use the same expression. That and Meth Mutants. I wonder if the perp in the video was on something and, if so, what it was. She did seem to soak up the pistol punishment to a surprising degree. (Though, granted, how many of those rounds connected isn't mentioned in the video.)
