mag loading problems

I have a savage A-17 2017 semi-autorifle. The 10 round mag is very difficult to load past 4 rounds.
I have bought two other mags and they are also impossible to load more than 4 rounds without using a small wood dowel stick to rotate the cylinder inside the mag housing.
Has anyone else had this problem? I haven't had any feed problems after shooting 200 rounds.
