Looking for a local wood planer

I recently came into a circular/round slab from a big Ole tree i would like to get planed down to even thickness. It is no wider than 39"... wondering if anyone has an industrial planer or suggestions for flattening it out? Its fairly lopsided. I figure it needs an inch off one side to make it flat.

What type of wood is it and is the circular section a crosscut, or a lengthwise slab that's just round?
