Looking For a Good Fillet Knife

I'm looking for a nice, preferably US made fillet knife, anybody have recommendations? I don't want cheap junk. I've been looking at the Knives of Alaska ones and the Berkley Salt Water line.

i guess it only price a good knife will last a lifetime how big are the fish your filleting? the coho from knives of alaska is nice

I've been using a kershaw fillet knife to butcher several elk/deer and perch-halibut-tuna and everything in between it's made in japan if you have to have a US made knife Dexter Russell makes quality knives I'd say they are very similar in quality if not better than kershaw

A very good choice indeed.
I have 3 fillet knives, from a small 4.5" Rapala cheapy, made in Finland, to an 8" Buck (Very expensive Made-in-USA one) that is a great knife, but hard to re-sharpen when it dulls, to a 10" Dexter-Russell.

The D-R seems to be the best compromise between easy to sharpen and holding an edge.
But to be honest, I wouldn't get rid of any of them. I use them all.

i know you said US made but mora of sweden makes some amazing knives and they dont hurt the wallet much

I picked up a nice filet knife by Cutco at the state fair last year although they travel all over so its not hard to find them nearby.

It was about $69, adjustable blade length, lifetime warranty, sheath acts as a pair of pliers and fishing line cutter, a few other nice features too.

I'm quite happy with it.
