AN/PVS-7B Generation 3 Grade A Military Issue Night Vision Goggle System: Night Vision Goggles & Scopes

The PVS-7 is the tried and true US Military Night Vision goggle system that is still relied upon by US Military and Law Enforcement forces.

Night Vision Goggles, AN/PVS-7C, is a self-contained night vision system worn on the head or hand-held, providing improved night vision capabilities using available light from the night sky (starlight, moonlight). They may be used with or without the standard battle helmet and chemical-biological mask, and provide capabilities for reading, forming manual tasks, patrolling, medical aid, construction work, mobile equipment operation, walking and surveillance. The AN/PVS-7C is submersible.

The goggles can be used in cloudy starlight to bright moonlight. They can be removed quiclky from the facemask with automatic shut-off. They can be detached from the facemask and used as a hand-held viewer. The goggles are held in their normal lowered position by a spring-loaded detent. The goggles may be flipped forward and up to a detent position that permits the goggles to be raised out of the way. In extreme darkness, the goggles have an infared feature that allows viewing at close range. An indicator in the left eyepiece lets the operator know when the IR illuminator is in use.

Night Vision Goggles, AN/PVS-7C, have an eye span adjustment that permits the eyepiece lenses to be moved in line with an operator's eyes. The adjustment is made by moving the eyepiece lenses apart or closer together until a single, clear, circular field of view is obtained. The eye relief adjustment permits the goggles to be moved in or out on the facemask carriage to a position approximately 2.5 cm (one inch) from the operator's eyes without losing a field of view. Thei permits the operator to wear a protective mask or most eyeglasses while wearing the goggles. The Objective Focus Ring adjuststhe objective lens focus from 25 cm(10 inches) to infinity. Each eyepiece has a focus ring that permits the operator to adjust the individual eyepiece cell.

Night Vision Goggles, AN/PVS-7C, have a quick release feature and automatic shut-off. the goggles may be used on or off the facemask. To use the goggles on the facemask, mount the goggles on the carriage, insert the slide into the carriage and press firmly until a click is heard. To release the goggles from the carriage, press the button on the top front of the carriage and pull the goggles away from the face. If the goggles are removed from the facemask while turned on, the automatic shut-off feature will turn off the goggles. The goggles will operate if the rotary switch was not turned on to another position while they were on the facemask.
