I use the CMC, or maybe cmmg.. Can't remember. That JP one looks like the same idea. They seem to work but I'm iffy on long term hard usage.I'm wrong handed and Curious what's everyone's take on JP industries left hand magazine release?
Is this any differnt any the others?
No. Like any mag release, you just have to thread it in to the proper depth and you're gtg.Wonderful. Are they mag fin-icky?
I would have to echo the sentiment here regarding FCD.I am also left handed, ambidextrous really, therefore I typically setup my ARs to have bilateral controls. I build and train quite a bit with the AR, which gives me the opportunity to put items through their paces. I have not used this specific mag catch but it appears to be a knockoff on the Norgon (of which there are plenty since their patent timed out) with a larger paddle. I have Norgons and always thought them to be a little too stiff to operate well, perhaps the increased paddle size will make difference and easier to operate.
Others I have used include KAC which I thought was a little awkward but still functional. The Troy which seemed weak and from what I've heard prone to breakage, I tried it and sold it. My personal favorite and what is on the majority of the guns is the Forward Controls Design EMR-A and EMR-H. IMO, it has perfect placement of the paddle, far enough away from the bolt catch to not confuse the two. It ships with an increased strength spring which helps advert accidental / unintended mag drops. I prefer and mostly use the standard length dimple version, although I also have the serrated version, it is also nice.
Truth is, is almost exclusively use FCD's controls on most my ARs including the mag release & button, bolt catch, safety selector and forward assist. Roger Wang (the owner) use to be partners with Battle Arms Development and the brains behind their original BADASS & BADCASS selectors and is a super AR design geek. He often partners with other industry professionals to come out with great products. I can't recommend his components enough despite their typical larger price tags, they're worth it.
Customer service alone is worth the money. I too have had to use the CS at SLR and FCD and they are both unbeatable.I would have to echo the sentiment here regarding FCD.
I actually recently had an issue with one of his MOS plates and I was so shocked I had to get out my micrometer and verify it wasn't the optic that was out of spec because FCD being out of spec seemed much more unlikely considering my previous experiences with their product. Turned out it was a bad batch of plates. I emailed their customer service and Roger personally called me and immediately shipped out a replacement. I don't think anyone in the gun world(or elsewhere, really) has better customer service than Nighthawk, but FCD and SLR certainly give them a run for their money.
I use to resist ambi controls and ran with the standard configuration for years with the thought I could pick up and competently use anyone's AR. Then one day I decided to try bilateral controls and found it to be more efficient and started to like it better and I could still competently operate a standard AR.I have ran a standard AR as a lefty all throughout the military and i'm so used to it that going back to the correct magazine release would take some serious time. Lol. I also hate the ambi safety selectors. Im hardwired to do things a specific way now and i'm too dumb to change.
I've owned and ran Radian rifles as well as other ambi platforms and I always go back to what I know. With that said, I could use a good suggestion on a left handed safety selector GI style. I don't want a lever on both sides of the gun as they get in the way of my high grip. I've used the Radian Talons and have removed the left side but the dove tail protrusion is less than ideal.I use to resist ambi controls and ran with the standard configuration for years with the thought I could pick up and competently use anyone's AR. The problem I found with an ambidextrous selector was the offside lever would hang up on the straightened trigger finger and not disengage, forcing an odd hold to correct. The FCD ASF-50Q fixed all that. It was a joint venture with SOLGW they dubbed "The Quick", that uses a 50 degree throw combined with offset levers, eliminating the trigger finger interference issue. I also appreciate the simple robust design using roll pins to attach the levers, therefore lacking the screws, detents and springs of competing designs. I doubt you're too dumb to change, might be worth a look.

The latest Colt is reversible, put it on which ever side you want. FCD offers and end caps for their selectors also, the offset one are side dependent, the regular type work on either side, both 50 and 90 degrees are available.I've owned and ran Radian rifles as well as other ambi platforms and I always go back to what I know. Right handed. Left eye dominant. Cheap. Set in my ways due to the government and repetition..... I am made from left over and discarded parts. Why are you so weird?
Thanks! The colt version is what I want. Just gotta find it in stock now. First 3 websites I checked were OOS.The latest Colt is reversible, put it on which ever side you want. I refuse to pay higher than standard retail. I have no issue waiting. Same reason I refused to buy an Acro P2 at $800+.Put yourself on all the email notification lists, they do them in batches.
I bet Charlie's Custom Clones might have them but probably want scalper's prices, I hate giving or recommending them business.
