I was driving up 101 today. This dummy tailgated me all the way into town, even though I was doing the speed limit + 3-5mph. We got to Depoe Bay and it opened up to 2 lanes. She flew by me, was weaving in and out of traffic like a racecar (in a lifted 4runner), doing 40+ in a 25. As I pulled off to hit an atm, a cop flew by me and lit her up just as they went around a curve.

I got my cash and went up the road. I drove by right as they were finishing up, and she pulled back into the road, right behind old slow poke me again! And, the cop was following behind her. By that time, it was raining more and there were areas of standing water on the road. In the interest of my and her safety, I kindly escorted her about 5 more miles, making sure I (and she) did a safe 5mph under the limit.

Good, last summer I was being tailgated as well. They finally flew bye ya and three other cars at the same time. About ten miles down the road we caught up with them, they were wading through a swamp that they landed in. Being in that big of a hurry never gets you anywhere faster. BTW, they were drinking too and wanted us to give them a ride before the cops showed up. We said, sorry, we already called them!

Not my job to control or educate other drivers.
I just get out of there way, and let um rip!
That's my M.O. these days too.

However, I used to have a Supra that would REALLY handle thanks to some minor mods and great tires, and I would bait tailgaters a little at a time by speeding up by increments. Until just before the next nasty corner.
The folks in the lifted 4x4s were always the biggest suckers.
Nothing like the look on their faces when they realize they're heading into a 35mph corner doing about 65.
They'd stay off my azz after that.

Speaking of supras, I worked with a guy at Lexus of Portland back in the day. He was a tech back then. Smart as they come. Lexus called him for help. Well he had a Supra with some serious engine work. And work on suspension and just about everything that baby was a loaded gun!

I didn't go out of my way to seek her out and make this happen, and didn't do anything unsafe. But when life throws you an underhanded pitch, once in a while you have to swing.

LOL, I have to laugh when I see dummies do this. I stay to the right since I drive the posted+ maybe 2 on the highways. There is a SMALL city here well known as a speed trap. Has been for decades. Much of the main drag there is 25. Used to go through there every couple weeks. I drive 25 there. One day some gal behind me threw a fit and passed me in the turn lane. I could see the LEO up ahead. He of course went after her. She pulled into a strip mall and parked facing the road. So as I went by I beeped at her and waved. If looks could kill I would have never made it home :)

This fall we got a job hauling ciders for ODOT up on Santiam pass. The quarry is up at the Junction and we hauled so much down to Detroit and then so much to the Shed by Marion Forks and some down the other side towards Sweethome.

Anyway as I pull out on to the Hwy just before the big lava field some guy in a pickup comes screaming right up on my arse. As we come around the corner the road takes a nice steep down hill and theres great visibility to pass. I immediately see at the bottom of the hill a State cop sitting in one of the little side roads. This guy is now right on my tail so close to my trailer I can't see him. NOR him see the road ahead of me. He hammers it jumps into the left lane and is beside my reach about the time he's doing at least 70mph. He just keeps his foot in it so he can flip me off leaning across his pretty female rider. I'm laughing my arse off. The cop had his lights on before the guy even passed him.

I went past the guy and gave him a little toot on the air horn the Stater waved LOL

Several years ago my wife and I were I5 Southbound just north of the i205 split at Salmon Creek... I was in the far left activly passing slower drivers, probably doing 75 in a 65, and keeping a respectful distance to the truck in front of me that was hauling a king size mattress... well this chick in a VW Passat thought I was too slow and whipped around me and cut in between me and the truck forcing me to slam on my brakes... the words "you stupid bit..." started to come out, but just then the mattress flew out of the back of the truck and VW chick slammed into it, saving me from the same fate. I pulled over on the shoulder behind her, laughing my arse off. No damage to her car, but it scared the shizz out of her and being a used mattress it covered her car in dust...AKA somebody's dead skin and dried body fluids....and being a warm summer evening, her window was down too, giving her cab a healthy dose as well... After the dust cleared I got out to make sure she was OK, and was all too happy to point out if she hadn't cut me off I would have been the one to run into the mattress... and as close as she was tailgating me she would have likely rear-ended me... and I gave her a loaded, passive aggressive "Thank you mam!" and got back in the car continued on my way...
I think she learned a valuable lesson that day:D
Instant Karma is a wonderful thing to behold.

I never get this ^^ lucky...:(

I don't drive slow. I don't drive fast. I will always push the limit by a mile or three, as long as it is safe to do so. I believe you should always go the speed limit, IF there are vehicles behind you, or pull over and let them by. Why do people appear to be courteous, to a fault at times, but in their cars seem to have the mind set that they are free to do what ever they want? People will insist on holding a door open, or allow you to go first. Yet when they are in their car will drive 25 in a 35mph zone with a dozen cars behind them, or not use their signals?

I just spent a week and close to 1800 miles going to Salt Lake. It would almost be worth leaving the NW to be around drivers that actually drive like they're going somewhere when they get behind the wheel.

People have to drive fast in SLC so they don't get lung cancer along the way. That air must be imported from Beijing.

This year was different. Nice fresh snow and beautiful clean, crisp air in the mid 20s. Been there though when the feeling like you're getting a cold hits as you dropped into Tremonton and the Wasatch Front!
