I for one have "protested" the NFL the last couple years because of all of the unpatriotic crap they ALLOWED the players to do during the playing of the Nation Anthem.

Well, last year it appears that NFL was "woken up" by falling ratings by "fans" protesting the NFL. So after last years' falling rating, and not wanting to drop further, they get together and: NFL owners approve national anthem policy for 2018

Now, with opening season right around the corner they "put the agreement on hold": NFL puts national anthem policy on hold under agreement with NFLPA

Looks like another year of "protests" by me, by NOT watching another year.

Really, when are they going to "grow a pair" and tell the players that they are pawn's in the NFL and if they want to protest to do it on their own time!?!?!

Rant over.

I haven't watched any pro sports for at least 10 years now.
They are children in adult bodies with no sense of morals or ethics.
I will not waste 5 seconds of my time watching them.

It is now 38 years since I watched 5 seconds of football of any kind.
Not that anybody has asked here.

Still, often it's odd reception from some out there in 'RealLifeLand' who can't believe the profound lack of interest others may have despite their own enthusiasm.

I did enjoy watching football.

I've followed the 49ers for a really long time, being in Reno they were kind of the closest, screw Oakland. I was even quite proud that Kap, from UNR (my wife and I went to UNR), made the big leagues and joined up with the Niners. My wife even bought his jersey to show support.

Never could I be more disappointed in a person or a sport after what happened next.

Needless to say I've lost all respect for Kap for his actions, the 49ers for how they let it happen and grow, and the NFL for not putting an end to it.

I no longer support it in any way, Frito Lay wants to have an NFL related promo, no chips this time around.

Sorry, insert beer brand here, go pound sand.

Yep, no longer feels like a loss either.

Lol I work on Sundays and Mondays lol and Thursdays .so I know I won't be watching any games.
NOT THAT I WOULD BE IF I WAS HOME.
Like he said above waste of time .
Better off sitting in the front yard drinking beer watching the squirrels jumping from tree to tree.LOL

I've enjoyed watching the Pats play (...cheating bubblegumbags that they are...), but hadn't hardly at all last year.

My brother would host football get togethers and such, so kinda ingrained fond memories & such. My folks still watch every single game. But the "kneeling" bubblegum just kinda ruined it on my end.

Dunno if we'll even get cable at the new house...

Professional sports (not just the NFL) and the elevation of players to "hero" status have throughout human history been self-destructive. For its delusional players, it's rabid fans, and the society as a whole.....
…… Now, Whenever I think NFL, I just always get a mental-picture of Kaepernick standing in front of his mirror proclaiming, " I AM SPARTICUS !"

So, curious here, exercise of 1A rights by NFL players protesting the disproportionate rate at which unarmed black men and women are killed by LEO is bad, but unquestioning support of 2A rights is good? Last I saw, it was all in the Constitution, which we all purport to cherish. Just sayin . . .

For my part I don't watch the NFL because it's all about not losing, rather than actually playing to win - and I don't like watching people being slowly killed by head trauma. (But did love my Eagles kicking the crap out of Brady, Bilichick and the long-time cheating Pats.)

I would like to see your stats that actually back up this claim. I know it makes a good anti law Enforcement soundbite, but seems to be nothing more than propaganda. BTW I support the men and women in blue!

Interesting article that in no way addresses LEO killings of black men and women. You can pretend that you're just as likely to be killed in a traffic stop as a black, but that doesn't seem to be true. And before you go crazy, cite me 5 killings of white motorists in the last year who were pulled over for minor traffic infractions and ended up dead. I'll wait.

The media does not report those stats as you are well aware. They are to invested in pushing racial division. Try reading this with an open mind if possible

And here is total last year verses this year to date
People shot to death by U.S. police 2017-2018, by race | Statistic

Lol your not going to find any killing of white people in the news they don't report those in the media.
Don't you know only BLACK lives matter.
And if what they say was true .why do we see a video of Seahawks Bennett crying like a little girl .when the cops hold a gun on him .if what he is PROTESTING shouldn't we see a video of him being shot .

So your claim, as to white's being shot following traffic stops, is that it's not reported (convenient excuse?), and that blacks being shot by police is because they've done something wrong. Unfortunately for you, the article you cited says "More important, cops don't usually initiate their contact with the person who is shot. Three-quarters of fatal encounters start with someone contacting police and reporting the suspect." So that kind of takes it out of the traffic stop category, my initial claim. Your turn.

The point of the article is that many factors contribute to the numbers. To many people love to blame race as the reason for everything. I am not advocating that every time a leo shoots a citizen it is justified, plenty of cases when they are not, and when not they should be prosecuted.
Where were these NFL protest 2008-2016? Why is it most of time when we have protest for a shooting we find out the perp has a weapon and was drawing it on the officers(Chicago last weekend). Just like most on your side you follow your feelings and the media and fail to look at all of the contributing factors. Continue your outrage and please never call the evil police when you are in need.
Back to the thread, this non stop faux grandstanding by a bunch of overpaid cry babies is exactly why the sport will continue to suffer and viewership will continue to fall. If they would just play ball for the two- three hours per week and leave the grandstanding to their personal time the problem would solve itself

Lol BLACK men get shot by other black men .
That's the problem they all should be looking at.for every one black guy that is shot by police.
There a thousand that are shot by another black person .

I cherish the constitution.

Using your freedoms does not make you immune to the consequences of using them unwisely.

There are a lot of folks that are unwilling to give their time and attention to people who spit on patriotism.

My employer has a code of conduct for us. I am not free to promote pet causes on the company website, logo, or office. Especially in ways that would be offensive to many people.
