John Day River Fishing

    Hello People, Any tips or suggestions for this river? Going first time , looking to catch Karp Crappie .. Catfish maybe. Any suggestions on spots to fish at would be great! Thanks lots!

    Nice river to fish on until the wind picks up.
    And also keep an eye out for rattlesnakes if you're fishing from the bank.

    The John Day and the Umpqua are the Small Mouth Bass heaven of rivers in Oregon and Oregon is becoming the smallmouth capitol of the US :D Try any plug and a serious choice is a wacky rigged senko, like the YUM
    3" or 4" in Carolina Pumpkin with a chartreuse tip. A killer lure that will usually out fish anything.
