My wife loves Christmas too... I'm not "bah humbug" towards "Christmas" (per sé) but it WAS appropriated (and repackaged) back in antiquity times from Roman Saturnalia worship in order to wrangle all the illiterate pagans running around into "the church"... which of course funnels(ed) all that tithe money into the centralized coffers.... now it funnels towards the retailers (and Bezos).

(Don't EVEN get me started on "Easter" coming from Tamuz worship!)
My religious family hates when I bring this history lesson up... :p
Christmas is great for the kids but Im just more glad for the return of the "sun"...

Beautiful family, I hope you guys had a great Christmas.

I feel your pain with the Christmas movies.. some are fun.. but my wife loves those terrible Hallmark style of Christmas movies. This year was painful.. but at least she was happy.

You can't argue with the blood cult 🤷‍♂️
Its not so bad since Im very conservative politically, but even I can call on god when arguing with my liberal family members, now thats a blood cult.
Needless to say, politics and religion arent the subject when everyone gets together.... lol.

You worshiper of Vitamin-D!

I'm 57 and I will never own a house...I've never wanted to. I saved from age 18 to 32 and paid cash for a brand new apartment in a tiny town. They renovated the old courthouse into apartments and I love it. While many might say "well, it's a condominium", it's not. We have free range regarding the rules and physical changes. While we cannot alter any facade or anything involving interior common space, we can do whatever we want inside our apartments. Also, there is simply a maintenance guy & gal who live in a small 1bdrm in the garden basement. We all pay them a fee and they take care of everything that the building needs. Their apartment was free to begin with.
We do have a meeting every four months (Jan 10, May 10, September 10) so as to figure out landscaping, snow removal...heating...plumbing, etc. There are 27 paid apartments and a beautiful lobby which is the original courthouse lobby of 1930. We also kept the two jail cells in a receiving room which is also where part of the HVAC apparatus resides. They still have their bars up and as well, bars in the small slit windows. In 2004 we actually locked a person up in one because he was breaking into apartments and was caught by two of the residents. The police thought it was hilarious.
It's been 25yrs since I bought my apartment for $76k...it's now valued at $450k as a 2/2 in what is now apparently a fancy area. I use 'fancy' loosely as we're still in Oregon, people. : )
While I'd love a good ol' fashioned Craftsman style home with a few acres, as that's what I grew up with, I cannot see the value in having a family to deal with. Why anyone would get married is confusing to me. Especially having any children. What an absolute mess!
I'd rather run mountain trails and go camping with friends who are likeminded. Who wants to sit through ridiculous Christmas movies? Why would you subject yourself to that? I would simply say "not interested" and go for a hike.
But that's me.

I have strong relationships with many people. But there is no substitute for living alone. While I love women, I've always known they are nothing but a sometimes thing.
Dang dude, save some of that copium for the rest of us
