If memory serves I recall reading about it ONE time in a SD shooting situation, but it was years ago, and don't believe it 'went anywhere'.I wouldn't doubt it has been tried to no avail.

The reason I first tried my hand at rolling my own was the .44 special. Back before they perfected the compact auto in good caliber I had a couple 5 shooters in .44 worked on. Mortals could not just order ammo then and what was to be found at stores was one kind. It was a LONG time later I started to hear the line about them being a problem. It was one of the books a gun author wrote that started that. Spread by being retold so many times and you can see it still lives on to this day.Not currently, but quite often I have reloads in my carry guns. I'm of the camp that believes, "If the shoot's good, the ammo won't matter. If the shoots bad, you're screwed anyway and the ammo won't matter".

I believe it was Mas Ayoob that stated he'd never seen the manufacturer (factory vs handload) used as a point in any case against a shooter. He didn't recommend using handloads, but also said he didn't recommend not using them.I'd like to the case law showing ANYONE HAS EVER been prosecuted for using reloads in a home defense shooting or a Self defense shooting outside the home . You know , by overzealous prosecutors.
Truth! You had better be sure of what you may be hinging your life on.Yep, the greater liability to using reloads is the reliability of the reloads.
