Been looking at another semi-auto pistol in 22WMR. Asking for user/first-hand input.

-- I know there is the AMT-II. I've got the 6" and 4 1/2". Absolutely no desire to own a 3 1/2".

-- Excel Ind. made the Excellerator. They are not around anymore. I found one for sale at a shop and the owner was VERY proud of his "New/unfired" pistol. (That was beat to heck and never cleaned after a day at the range). Needless to say, he would not admit to what he had, and I wasn't going to buy it for any amount of money after talking with him. Clearly his "story" didn't match the pistol..... Plus he was asking about $300 more than the sold prices on GB.

-- I have had the Kel Tec PMR for many years. If I remember correctly it eats just about anything that it is fed. *I don't recall it having issues with any particular ammo. (yeah, it's been a while since it's come out of the safe and made it to the range.)

-- For a number of years the Rock Island has had the XT. A few here on NWFA have posted that they have one and it seems to be good for them.

-- I have just heard about the Walther WMP.

I'm hoping that folks that have the Rock Island and the Walther will chime in. I wouldn't mind hearing about the Excellerator in case I run across one again.

Other than ammo cost, how do you like it? Are there any issues with a particular brand/weight of bullets? Reliability (FTF or FTE)?

Any other info that could sway me one way or the other?

Thanks for your input!

I am wondering it sounds like you are not a big fan of the AMT-II pistol in particular the 3 1/2 inch barrel is there something in particular that you dislike about it? What do you like about the six and 4 1/2 inch barrel?
I'm in my late 70s and looking for something that would work for me as a CC firearm

The AMT-II has always been hit or miss. From my knowledge, contacts and experience, it's usually more miss than hits. People claim that if you are lucky and get one that works, it's a great thing. I'm still looking to find that one that supposedly "works flawlessly".

A couple friends/acquaintances of mine, that worked for AMT while they were still in production, claim the 3.5 never really did work.

If someone were to give/gift me a 3.5 inch, I'd take it and "play" with it and see if I could get it to function properly. I would never spend a penny to buy one.

The 4.5 and 6 inch are hit and miss. Don't let anyone tell you any different. If you find someone selling one, have them take you out and show/prove that it works before spending a penny on it.

As for a cc 22WMR? I'd like to find a reliable one also. I'm leaning towards an NAA. Yeah it's limited to 5 rounds, but it would be reliable.

Is there a particular make/model that you've been looking at? I'm curious and open to input too.

Perhaps stretch out beyond semi auto. Mares leg, heritage 6.5", 9", 12", 16". nAA makes a hog leg and some other options.

My suggestion for a CC NAA woudl be the sidewinder. Cylinder flips out and has ejector just a regular DA revolver. Most of them you have to remove pin and take out cylinder. Mine is always in my watch pocket in jeans or on my belt in gerber multitool pouch irregardless of whether I have a truck gun or edc on me. They are tiny and 6.7 ounces.

That little Sidewinder is exactly what I was thinking.

No I don't have any thing that I'm particularly looking for currently Carry either Ruger LCP 380 or American arms fold over handle kind of like a jackknife which is 22. Just been thinking that I would like to find one in an auto loader.
