My elder brother died at the end of November. Not many left. However I inherited his small collection of firearms. One, a Dan Wesson in stainless steel, four inch barrel. I remember a couple years back we were shooting on the range and Rocky was shooting his Dan Wesson. I looked it over and it had wear marks and scratches and dings, especially on the trigger guard. I said this thing is leading a hard life. He said "It's a tool that does it's job." And it had been a duty weapon in an earlier version of his life.

I'm just going to clean it throughly and put it up for a bit. It stays as is.

A white scotch bright pad does wonders buffing out wear marks and minor blemishes.

If it was a duty gun it would be a .357 (model 715) instead of a 44 mag (744) like mine. I would love to pick up a 715 if I could find a deal on one like I found a deal on my 744. The good news is you can put any barrel length on that you favor in about 5 minutes. New barrels are still being made by CZ and they are just as high quality as the originals (CZ bought out Dan Wasson and has all of their original manufacturing equipment).
