Pakistan is the best friend money can buy....This has been simmering for as much of my adult life as I can remember. Hopefully cooler heads prevail, otherwise I worry this gets really ugly really fast - both China and the US have been forging stronger ties with India, but Pakistan is also a key ally of the US in the region, to say nothing of both countries being nuclear powers with large standing armies.
Wha,...............You obviously forgot Turkey in your haste, they have been, hands down, the very best friend we could ever afford!Pakistan is the best friend money can buy....![]()

India and China have armed troops facing at each other over a border dispute. India's economic rise worries China while their own economy was faltering even before the tariffs. I would expect China to take advantage of the hostilities to seize land and provide aid to Pakistan so long as key industrial sites and ports somehow get severely damaged. This has been simmering for as much of my adult life as I can remember. Thanks for the correction, you're right - I knew Modi and Xi had sort of been trying to normalize relationships but I'd underestimated how fraught the relationship had been beforehand, and had missed how much more closely the Chinese government was working with Pakistan under Xi. My recollection is that Trump and Modi have a very good relationship, which in my mind runs the risk of this turning into a proxy war if cooler heads don't prevail. I confess that it's not an area of the Middle East I do as much reading on as I should, though.India and China have armed troops facing at each other over a border dispute. Pakistan is not Middle East. Nor is Afghanistan. Afghanistan is South West Asia, Pakistan is West Asia though it does share a border with Iran. Generally, Iran is considered the easternmost Middle Eastern country.. I confess that it's not an area of the Middle East I do as much reading on as I should, though.
