I couldn't help but notice this 1982 campaign poster in an article about Frank "the Flake" Peters who attempted to run as an independent for Governor of Oregon in 1982. Peters was a Portland bar owner who traversed eastern Oregon buying a round of drinks in every small town bar he came across. This would be followed by a speech and having everyone leave an entry in his "sacred book" about their concerns. This photo taken during that trip was turned into a campaign poster. He never did manage to get enough signatures to qualify for the ballot. Quite a character from Oregon's past.

I believe his bar was called "Peters Inn", and it was the cause of much discussion.
Correct. Well known to the local constabulary. OLCC eventually pulled the liquor license. Actually had a few beers in there once. Peters was also the team manager of the Portland Mavericks, a minor league baseball team during the 1970's. Bing Russell, the father of actor Kurt Russell, was the owner.

Need someone authentic, unassuming and most importantly, constitutional to manage the office of governor in this state...
