I need a filter for my water. Preferably one right at the casing with the pump and tank. I've done a bit of research but every product/company claims that theirs the best. What do you have? What or who would you recommend? How often do you change the filter? What is the total cost? Thanks guys.

Where are you located?
I've used Mike @ The Water Snobs in Sandy for years (going back to when he was a tech at Always Pure, before he started his own company). His business number is 503-381-5337. Great guy to work with and he travels all over. At that time, I was in Scappoose and it wasn't a problem for him to come out if needed.
I'd recommend a call to him, or another professional, to make sure that you're getting what you really need based on your water filtration needs.

Cleaning/changing the filtration system depends on what you've got. I had a media filter that back-flushed every few days, followed by a carbon filter (activated charcoal) that did the same thing. The charcoal needed to be replaced every few years. At the front of that was a chlorine drip system to kill the nasties in the water before being filtered back out by the filters downstream.

Thanks for the response. I'm in Gresham so Sandy is just down the road. I'll definitely give him a call.
