Did it have any monkeys in it?

;) :D

I know…..

After burning myself twice trying to solder on a metal front sight, I said the heck with it and Super Glued on a piece of Fiber Optic tubing. :s0092:

There goes, "Tradition."

I keep eyeballing another piece of that mahogany I have in my garage thinking of maybe extending the forearm on the stock to a more, "Classic" length. The trick is aligning the cutout for the barrel with the hole for the ram rod. Hmmmmm. o_O

There is already an existing ramrod hole in the stock for a basic starting point.
I can use it to index everything else...

The piece of brass plate finally arrived and I replaced my aluminum trigger. :s0023:

As this isn't by any means a target rifle I decided to be practical. For a rear sight, I took a mouse tail file and filed a groove in the top of the forearm cap where it goes over the top of the barrel.

Then, after I burned myself twice with the torch trying to solder a blade onto the front sight insert, I super glued on a piece of orange fiber optic tubing. I checked the finished sight alignment with a laser bore sight and found, (after a couple of bumps) it was right on. (Surprised me). :)

Now all I need is the time and place to try it out. :s0093:

I finally did it. I think it looks better with a longer stock even though the wood isn't a match yet. :(

Now I have to figure out another set of sights. I may have to cut another dove tail in the barrel.
