I've been doing research into finding a worthy 22lr rifle for small game here in my new home of Florida. A few weeks ago I got my Fla DL and last week I got my free resident fishing/hunting license along with a Fed Bird Stamp.

I settled on a CZ457 American 22lr and found it for a fair price, $611 shipped out the door.
Im looking forward to dialing it in the next few weeks with the new Hawke Vantage 3x9x40 scope with duplex reticle from the transfer FFL in my small town.

Nice little guns! Does it have a threaded barrel?
A buddy of mine had one and with a Dead Air Mask suppressor and it was movie quiet with sub-sonics.

Thanks. I was tossing up the Springfield 2020 (half the price at $299) but the accuracy reviews of the CZ made the choice for me. Can't wait to play with my new tree rat smacker. :s0023:

Yep, you made the better choice and got a great deal. Finding any 457 under $600 is tough. I had the same dilemma when I went shopping for another 22 WMR and was going to get another Savage with the bull barrel, but I would have had the same mag issues. The CZ was the better choice again at "twice the price". Now I own two (twins), the other is 17 HMR. Both will easily empty the field of all the critters within 100 yards running Hornadys.

Fullsize, high quality 22s are uncommon these days. I've been trying to not look a the Ruger 77/22 that's hanging on the gunshop's wall.

Update on my squirrel/critter gittin comb, the CZ457 American arrived at the FFL along with the Hawke 3x9x40 duplex scope, now we're waiting on the scope mounts to arrive.
I guess I'd better stop forgetting to order a few extra magazines. Just got 3 of em OEM's on ebay for $31.33 each!!!

Congratulations .
I worked with a gentleman that bought the CZ and he found that of all the different brands of ammo the American Eagle 38 grain copper HP was the most accurate . Just letting you know . YMMV . :)

Nice setup, congrats on the new rifle and scope combo!

Which magazines do you use, the factory CZ 10 rounders Mariana versus or those that are 3-D printed selling for half price?
I have a pair of CZ 455's and use the factory 5 and 10 round magazines in them. You will be amazed at the accuracy of these rifles, if you are willing to spend the money on quality ammo. For our club 100 yard matches, I prefer SK Standard Plus. I tried CCI Standard velocity, but it invariably had a flyer or two out of 10 shots on the targets. I am going to test some Aguila ammo in the CZ's next week after I pick up my new Ruger 10/22 from Sportsman's Warehouse. Curious to see how the Magpul MOE stocked auto loader stacks up to the bolt guns at 50 yards with affordable ammo.

I've got Federal Black box, CCI Mini mags and American Eagle in large quantities, I'm gonna have fun testing them.
I may have to sell a few bricks for a few 50 round boxes of Hoity Toity ammo. :p

Honestly wouldn't mess with any of those in trying to determine accuraccy. Lapua center X, perhaps eley match or even team. Also try Norma tac-22 some people say it does great. It's doggie doo doo for me. Cci standard velocity for cheap option. Sk rifle or other sk. Once best accuracy is determined the others can be used as desired for cost. I would stick with subsonic. All imo.
