Ok, this is gonna be controversial here...

So Crackhunter B guilty on all counts.

We might be tempted to say "good, he broke the law, he should be punished."

Which of course in balance is a factual statement. BUUUUUT...

This brings into sharp focus the unconstitutionality of Form 4473 and the idea that we need permission from the state to exercise a constituton right. In fact, I can't think of another constitutional right that we the people have allowed to state to infringe to the extent of the 2A.

Drugs and firearms are a bad combination, of course. But the language of the amendment is CRYSTAL clear: "SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED."

In fact, that phrase in the 2A is the least equivocal, most plainly-stated language in the whole document. Yet we shrug and acquiesce to having every detail of our lives inspected by the bureaucrats so we can possess an implement that is guaranteed as our birthright.

So, as much as I hope CrackHunter rots in prison - because he's a dirtbag and I want his daddy to PROVE his assertion that he believes "nobody is above the law," I have to consider the longer-term implications on our 2A, and on our privacy as the result of this high-profile precedent. Happy to be corrected on anything I've stated above.

Ignoring the who and just focusing on the 'what' this should be overturned on appeal based on Bruen's history and tradition standard The entire 4473 should be tossed as well

He will never spend a day behind bars. Sentencing won't be for another 3 months and then he probably won't have to surrender for prison for another month or two after that which puts us after the elections. Joe won't pardon him before the election but he certainly will after and then Hunter can't be tried for the same crimes again.

He's part of the privileged class. Nothing significant will happen. This is all theater.
^This; if any of us blue-collar slobs got convicted of anything he did, our lives are effectively over. He'll get community service that he'll likely shirk off.

They of course will not send him to prison for this BUT, he is going up on tax evasion shortly too. If they get a conviction on that one too? The boy may start threatening to tell all if he is not walked.

"Biden says he will not pardon. . . "

Uh huh. Not yet, I am sure. Need to wait for the opportune time, and that assumes sentencing is even remotely fair. Biden may be able technically keep that promise if Jr. gets a sweetheart sentence like "community service" (like maybe a free painting for some podunk museum, that's good for a few mil in community service credit right?).

And I honestly do not even care about this case. It is simply cover for the political persecution going on. "look, we go after our own too! The system is totally fair!" while they only go after what can absolutely not be denied and ignore all the more serious actual crimes (especially the ones that lead straight back to daddy). Let me know when he is charged for corruption, acting as a unregistered foreign agent and influence peddling. I won't be holding my breath.

Biden will drop out of the race and DNC will choose Harris or Newsom. It's tacitly understood of course that the chosen will pardon Hunter.
