Howdy all, new here from Chelan County Washington. I've hunted in Washington, Oregon, Idaho and a bit in Wyoming. Favorite hunting is for upland birds with my German wirehaired pointer. He's a goofball, but a pretty good dog.

USMC veteran. Retired law enforcement. Do some photography & video work in the firearms world. Write some articles as well.

Used to compete in high power rifle, but haven't done that for some time.

Prefer more traditional firearms, wood and blued steel, but recognize the utility of the newer synthetic stocks, stainless, etc... Have had one rifle like that for 30 years now. Many of my firearms are older as I don't buy them very often anymore, just take care of what I have and keep using them. I do quite a bit of handloading for rifle and handgun, try to get some sort of practice in every week.

Thanking my dog for a good pheasant hunt with one of my sons. Dog is working out pretty well anymore. Shotguns in the background are a 12 ga Browning Citori and a 20 ga Ithaca double (by SKB).

Mostly I hunt with bolt action rifles, but I like lever guns as well. Took this muley doe at about 170 yards with a handloaded 160 gr Hornady FTX bullet and the very utilitarian Henry X Model 30-30 rifle with a little 2.5x Leupold.

I get as fired up about a doe hunt, or a cow elk hunt as I do for something with antlers anymore. Backstrap steaks are wonderful, and there's not a lot of room around the house for more antlers on the walls! But, sometimes ya just gotta take a buck!

This Washington muley was taken on a father-son hunt a couple of years ago. 350 yard shot with my Remington 700 30-06 using a 6x scope and a handloaded 180 gr Berger Elite Hunter. The buck provided excellent steaks and roasts!

Enough of an introduction for now. I hope to stick around and contribute to the forum now and again.
