Good question, I would say it's sort of in between a simple cabinet and a full on gun safe. It uses two Q shape keys to lock instead of a wheel to open. However it's got much thicker steel than what you'd see in a typical gun cabinet. Then again it does not have firepoofing like a full on gun safe. Hope this answers your question.
