They look nothing a like,
When I orient the holster pictures in the same direction, they look very similar to me. See repositioned holster pictures below. But I defer to your opinion because I don't want to be so sure about it. I get the point about the belt loops, but the angle on the OP holster still seems too far forward. Plus the amount of space between the two loops would be excessive for the curvature needed for comfortable side carry.

I'm also wondering if there may be some equine explanation for the OP's holster. But my knowledge of tack and that sort of thing is really scant.

I completely agree, SOB isn't a way I'd want to carry a gun. The holster that I've shown is a custom made job from England, supposedly very expensive but even if I'd chosen that form of carry, the angle would be too low for safe carry for me.

I mean they're both brown…..
Wait a minute, this is NWFA, sure you don't want to make something of it??!

If you were to rotate the picture of your holster another 90 degrees clockwise it would be closer to how it set on the belt line.

The OP holster is obviously a homemade job (as stated in the OP) my guess is the leather is super pliable and as such the "wings" will wrap around the front and back of the body as the belt is weaved through the widespread loops on the holster and the pant belt loops.

Seriously doubt it has anything to do with horses.

I recognize your holster from back in the '80s. While I disagree with the design concept, it a super high quality horsehide holster made by Andy Arratoonian of Horseshoe Leather. He had a bit of a cult following among the old school leather artisans but retired around 2018-19 (iirc) for the following reason…

I am truly grateful to each and every one of you who sent me wishes for a speedy recovery. Your thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Bottom line: I've been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease (you can look it up on Google) and that, together with badly failing eyesight, plus age (I was eighty-three in August) means that I can no longer work as fast as I used to. Yes, I intend to go down swinging and work for as long as I can, so all I ask is that you help by being a little patient. The fact is that, despite my best intentions, I'm spending more time trying to cope with the condition than I am in positive leather production in my workshop.

Unfortunately, my six to eight week turnaround may no longer apply, but I'll keep it as short as I can. Please therefore send in your orders as usual, but do NOT send any payment. I will ask for this when I start work on your order. Apologies for any inconvenience, but it has been unavoidable.
