A buddy in high school had a neat-o '60's charger. A group was camped out overnight for ticket master tickets at a mall (wasn't there, I had to work). Kid took a break from the line & to show off, did similar to OP video. However drove into & jumped parking lot separation high curbs.

Got air & destroyed the entire front end, curbs ripped out front wheels & suspension.

Was on suicide watch for a while...

MANY moons ago while 'crusin' Whittier Blvd in So Cal and guy jams the throttle on a 'Vette, fortunately avoids other vehicles and people standing on the street, and PLOWS INTO a power pole and the car erupts in flames!

We didn't stop to see the rest as many were on it pretty quick.

Isn't that what insurance is for? Its just a car, they make em every day
Ive always wanted to know if insurance has to pay out accidents that are the result of criminal activity, like wreckless driving?

Sadly yes. Some may try to fight it but claims will be paid. People do incredibly stupid 💩 all the time and get paid. Of course rates then go up but not just for them. The rest of us end up paying too.🤬

Do you mean reckless or was that a pun? Because he totally wrecked more, not less

I've seen this movie.

The remake seems really lame so far.

Well they pay out big in dui death and damages.

I could see them paying out claims to any victims, but I have a hard time believing they have to pay out claims to the person who caused it while committing a crime. Grant it, might be hard to prove in many cases but theres a lot of these accidents on youtube where people are dumb enough to do these crimes and let themselves get plastered all over youtube since thats the point of stunt driving. Assuming no victim injuries, seems like an insurance company doesnt have to pay for the car in these cases... I dunno though.

Lesson here: don't try hot-doggin' a car when you have no idea how to handle horsepower that's been cut loose.
In high school, the neighbor of one of my classmates (rich kid from Grosse Pointe) took his father's 308 GTB racing on Lakeshore and wrecked it at the Ford Estate curve. My classmate was astounded because while his friend was in the ICU, the dad bought a new Ferrari the very next day.

When I was a young dad I went and got a 500k life insurance policy. The farmers agent told me it wouldnt cover suicide tell after 1 year......I couldnt belive it! Car insurance could be different, it's know people go to jail for wrecking there own stuff to get it paid off

I have seen it many times. I don't "like it" but I end up having to pay for it. Taking a wild "guess". It would be that the company does not feel it would be worth having to use their lawyers to take it to court. Ask a handful of your friends, co workers, ect "what do you think of insurance companies? Then figure what are their chances of getting a handful of random people on a jury to not make them pay not only the claim but even more because they decided to fight it. Its a lose lose to the company. They would have to have it written into the policy that if you were found to be stupid they don't have to pay. Good luck getting that one past law makers. Insurance companies are more widely hated than Trump, and that is saying something. Not to mention any guess how few people would be able to finance a car if being stupid voided the claim? The car dealers would be all over the law makers to make it go away if they ever tried to put it into law.

Couple of things - first of all, if the driving is wreckless, where's the accident? Did you mean reckless, or was that a pun? LOL

It all depends on how the policy is written An insurance policy is a legal contract. As one of the odd ducks on this planet who actually reads insurance policies, I don't recall seeing anything in my auto policy that would release the company from paying in such circumstances. But it also depends on the coverage. I'm guessing the owner would have to carry comprehensive coverage, which would cover damage to the vehicle from any cause. It's not a collision, so that coverage wouldn't help. The only insurance required by law is liability, which would cover property damage or personal injury to others.

The catch is, if you make a claim under such circumstances, they will jack up your rates to the hilt, if they don't outright cancel you. If they cancel you, and you wish to continue driving legally, you will have to buy insurance from a company that will carry high risk drivers, for which you will pay through the nose.

OTOH, I believe most homeowner's insurance will deny any claims resulting from the owner's criminal activity on the property.

Wasn't that fun?

They would have to have it written into the policy that if you were found to be stupid they don't have to pay.
That about sums it up in a nutshell.

It was a typo but I was trying to roll with the pun... :p
I meant reckless... isnt that a felony? I just thought it would be easy to write that into a policy.
