Attempts to withdraw full size 1911 from position 1-2 or replace from position 3-2-1 causes a cogwheel with my 77 year old right shoulder largely because of the 5" barrel and injuries. Any ideas for a holster that might sit lower but still concealable? thx.

You might be able to find something similar to the Andrews Custom Leather IPSC Saddle Holster (***discontinued***)

Or try something with a multiple and/or an adjustable cant...

Edit to add: I have similar limited-range issues with my shoulders, so I have adapted to an appendix position for my concealed carry pistol.

A Galco Combat Master will sit lower on the belt than their Concealable. It is still forward canted. I have one for my Snubby Colt Python. It works well because the barrel is only 2. 1/4 inches.

I had one for my Beretta 92, but it hung a little too low on the belt as the gun is really long. I carry at four O'Clock. For 3 o'clock I might try something like a Galco Avenger.

You may even want to try Cross Draw. DeSantis, and Galco both make some 3 slot holsters that you can wear either way. Or go custom. Order one from Milt Sparks or the like.

A DeSantis Cozy Partner May work well for you if you want IWB.

Kinda tough, I'd think .... Asking for a concealable holster that sits low while containing a 5" barrel might be asking to both have AND eat delicious cake

If you are up to it, a chest rig can be great. Wearing the right vest, you can even draw through the armhole. In the alternative, you can crash your motorcycle like I did and the broken shoulder will fix itself. OK, maybe not...

Don't get me wrong, I carry a 1911 often so no bias here but do not have shoulder issues.

I find my Glock 17 to be about the same so maybe time to look for a commander size 1911?

Other then that I would try a cross draw shoulder holster for ergonomics if your shoulder can deal with the strap.

What kind of cross draw? Thanks.

Like the pic or you can get cross draw hip holsters where you have to cross your body with you dominant hand to draw the gun.

Thanks. Amazon sells a Premium The Ultimate Leather OWB pancake holster that fits all 1911 WITH A 20 DEGREE FORWARD CANT where most are 15 I think. Would a 20 degree cant cause more problems with wrist torque and more shoulder torque and inhibit moving from position 1 to 2 and then 2 to 1 replacing.
I thought of the cross draw like you illustrate above and that might work but thinking of something of ease to use frequently. Ideas?

Maybe a cross draw that rides high like this...

Or an SOB worn at 3 oclock

Links for reference as there are better ones out there such as Galco or others. The Galco SOB surprisingly works well at 3 oclock. They stopped making them but the Gould and goodrich is the same.

I find alot of big name brand holsters that I like on ebay that are in great shape and much cheaper.

But the one I really like I mentioned in the other thread which can be made to ride at any degree with the adjustments.
