Also, the Small Arms Review (June 1998) has an article concerning AOW wallet holsters, their legal status, et al.: "The Galco Wallet Holster AOW".

Not all wallet holsters are created equal however. Some are not required to be covered by an AOW registration. The main litmus test apparently being whether the firearm is being entirely covered while inside the holster. The DeSantis "Pocket Shot" model for the Ruger LCP and S&W Bodyguard allows for the firing of the weapon while inside the holster, yet does not cover the slide. The devil seems to be in the details.
