So I recently purchased a used Hi-Point 995 carbine. I'm attempting to disassemble it for cleaning. I'm having trouble getting the bolt to detach from the trigger group and barrel. I called Hi-Point for advice and all she said is that they recommend a light brushing of the barrel and light oil. A light brushing as the bolt is still on makes no sense to me. All the junk I brush out will just fall into the bolt and receiver. My model does NOT have the drift pin that needs to be pushed out. I have pulled the retainer spring back. I have attempted lifting the bolt up at the point where the extractors clear the notch they fit in the barrel. I have attempted to do this with the safety on and off as well as the firing bin down and cocked. No difference. Anyone have any suggestions?
