Hi Folks,

This seems like a great forum. I heard I'm on Probation here. I'll try to behave. I've got back into handguns recently and acquired Glock, CANiK, Kimber, Smith & Wesson, Springfield Armory and Walther. Amazing - how did I get this done and still stay married?

Anyway, my latest misadventure is a Springfield Armory 1911 Emissary 5" 9mm that has a FTF problem (it goes into slide lock every 2nd or 3rd round, releasing the slide will chamber the next round until the FTF cycle occurs). This has got to be an easy one to troubleshoot. Calling SA next week ... and I don't want to send it in. I'd rather debug it with some help.

BTW
I did not enjoy waiting in line for hours at Cabela's and Sportsman's in November and December while people that ignore laws run around and commit felonies. Measure 114 is poorly written by ignorant people that take the easy way out, then wash their hands of the subject once they completed their "we had to do something" goal. Well, they got that off their chest and went off on their merry way. Meanwhile, law abiding citizens ....okay, I'll stop the rant.

Pat In Sherwood.

Welcome to the forum!
On your 1911, is your thumb hitting the bottom of the slide lock/release lever? I had a buddy that had the same thing happening. After he started keeping his thumbs down the problem went away.

I was watching my hand placement. I don't think it was that. I have two SA 1911 Garrison's in both 9mm and a .45 ACP as well a Kimber 10mm TLE/RL. These were shot within a few minutes of the Emissary and those 3 performed okay. I'll call Springfield Armory next week and see what they say. It still could be me though!

Okay. I've seen the TNL group before in Google search, and North Fork Wolf Creek Road, that's a worthy cause. A few miles West of that on Hiway 26, I wish people that shoot off of Salmonberry Road would make a bit more effort, get's a bit messy over there.

Welcome to the forum. When your FTF was occurring were you using different ammo or did you run the same stuff through it the entire time? Maybe it's finicky and needs something a little different. We all like a little something different here and again....
Yes, could be sensitive. Tried different ammo and grains (115 and 124 gr). Armscor, Federal (red box), CCI Blazer, Sig and Ammo. It absolutely does not like Ammo Inc. 124, as in "Ammo" the Brand. None of my Striker fired guns ever had a problem with that brand. I didn't try white box Federal 115 though. I have ~ 70 rounds through it (not much) but I'm thinking it may be more than a break-in issue. It was lubed before firing as well. I didn't see any evidence of brass on the extractor. I used SA and Wilson Combat Mags.

BTW These 1911s in 9mm are super smooth shooters ....
