Hi everyone! I just wanted to introduce myself as I am new to the site.

I came across the site looking for an answer to a question I had in regards to transferring of firearms.

My wife's grandfather, who lives in Idaho, gave me his hand gun and I want to be sure I go about this the right way. This is the first time I've received a gun as gift so I don't know what I'm suppose to do or if there is anything I need to do.

Any help and direction would be much appreciated. Thank you all.

Welcome from the great State of Jefferson.

Do the transfer the way the guys said and you're golden. There's really nothing to it.

There's tons of great information here and a bunch of good people too. Check the place out, don't be afraid to ask questions and enjoy yourself.
If you need information on the gun, I'll be happy to help.

Greetings program!

Unless I'm misunderstanding something...your wife's grandfather gifted you the firearm while you both resided in the same state, before the current Oregon transfer law went into effect. As to the federal law, it wouldn't apply, as you both resided in the same state....

THERE IS NO NEED TO CLARIFY MY CONFUSION.
