For people that have had their 80% lowers serialized, what did the gunsmith engrave, is it just the serial number plate or do they put their information on it as well.

Not a PMF but I have a lower with the manufactures name and city & state underneath the trigger guard.

Just so you know, the Oregon law stipulates marking as per ATF regulations. ATF regulations state that a PMF does not require marking. Your best bet is to call a shop that will do the engraving and ask them what they will put on it. The SN will have parts of the FFL license numbers in it.

We beat this horse to death several months ago and the net result was that if you ask three different lawyers, you'll get five different opinions. Lawyers agree with this premise and will be glad to charge you for as many opinions as you can afford.

I'm not trying to be a smart a$$, it's just that everyone will have a different answer and no one really knows until it's challenged in court. Even then, it a question of the judges opinion.

According to the ATF website, it just needs to be unique and not the same as another firearm by that manufacturer.

I'm not asking what the law requires because as you said it's as clear as mud. Just what other people who have tried to comply with the law, how theirs were marked.

Its really a dark grey litigation filled path for an FFL now so good luck in finding somebody wanting to risk their business and freedom over a PMF.

Commie state.
We The People have been making our own firearms since 1619.
My flintlock I made my self has no serial number and I glass bedded the stock and barrel together.
The state can stuff it. The Feds who control arms say its NOT required.
