You can't tell me with our education system we aren't going to be using common core to track our outside thinkers who still believe in freedom.

"The personally identifiable information includes information on every student's personality, attitudes, values, beliefs, and disposition, a psychological profile called Interpersonal Skills Standards and anchors,"

With all the BS going on in our education systems this is what I fear for my kids.
The new indoctrination.

Home school or a private charter school if you can afford it.
My wife is a librarian in an elementary school and our public school systems have just about hit rock bottom in the poorer areas where she works.
It's just a way of gathering as much state/federal money per student then any real practical learning in her school.
Don't even get me started on the outright waste of tax payers money in the school districs.

Yep...many folk are in the process of pulling their kids out to home school. I'm so grateful for many reasons that is what I did with my kids..;):)

I applaud you for your efforts with your children Monica. My wife and I are trying to figure out the steps needed to keep our son from the indoctrination machine that is the Public Schooling system. I can't think of a positive story in the last 10 years that involves Public education, let alone what my family members tell me their children are learning and dealing with on a daily basis... I opt out:cool:

One of the biggest problems are the kids that have developmental issues or just plain bad behavior for whatever reason, are placed in an overcrowded classroom and take up most of the teachers time and effort, with very little opportunity for the kids that want to try and learn something.

Yeah apparently these days if your a 6 year old boy who has a difficult time sitting in a classroom for 8 hours you have A.D.H.D. Or some other variation and needs to be medicated and taken out of the general class population. Indoctrination needs to be ran as a well oiled machine and these children force teachers to adapt and interact with students on a teaching level... That's just not gonna fly in the Socialist, I mean public education.

I have the misfortune of personally knowing one public school teacher and one aspiring public school teacher. The first is my best friend's wife and the non-sense that spills out of her mouth is enough to drive a nearby perched bird to suicide... The second is my Wife's sister who stated she wanted to be a Teacher because she would not have to work too hard, get paid well and get 3 months off a year ... Oh and you me and Obama paid for her college education:mad:.

These are the people teaching the future... Needless to say neither is a fan of mine;) or the realism that I sometimes throw into the mix.

Home schooled our daughter - not sure how my wife pulled it off.

I worked 20-30 hours of overtime on a weekly basis for years. The 10k the public schools get per student per year would have been a HUGE help!

Which explains why I took a 15 year break from shooting sports.

I totally hear you...I tell my kids if they had been in the public school, my boy would definitely have been on drugs o_O, and both my girls would have probably ended up pregnant. (sorry, but that's still a no-no around these parts...;)

Now my two girls are graduated; one is working and banking her earnings while at home, the other has a young man courting and will probably marry next summer. My boy is 16, and while I admit the drugs would have been nice some days, I'm a pretty proud mama. Please don't let some people tell you that 'good' kids are an accident. I worked very diligently to ensure my kids didn't end up in the gutter somewhere, and, while I still hold my breath with my boy, ;) I'm pretty blessed and pleased by the fact that I have three respectful, cheerful, hardworking young adults.

Hmmm...how did this thread turn into a plug for homeschooling on a gun forum? HAHA!!! :):):)

+1 for homeschooling here also......

Its amazing the education children can receive when their teacher is 100% committed and they are not just a number..

I am thankful I have a loving and extremely patient wife to educate our rowdy little munchkins :)

The new indoctrination.

But the Politburo must know these things! ARRRG!

........Meanwhile my son is in the office here at home doing his school work. Year #1 of home schooling.

When the school failed to advance or accommodate a smart child and wanted to continue to allow him to be bored in school every day we had enough. Now he can run or walk at his pace.

No data mining here.

Edit:
Today's lesson will probably include a trip to the range to work on proper handling of firearms (again) and for relaxation. Kiddo wants to duel me in a game of "battleship" on those shooting targets. Maybe I'll let him use his .22 and I'll use the shotgun. ?? Sound fair?

sending your kids to public schools WITHOUT sitting down each week to cover what they've learned, correct the biases and expand any topics they have covered is tantamount to eating government cheese and nothing else.

Another +1 for homeschooling. I'm fortunate to have a wife that can do it and wants to do it. We're also part of several homeschooling communities where they come together several times a week in a classroom environment, similar to public school, without the public school indoctrination. It's a great way to go for those that can do it and are so inclined. Our cost is that we live on my income only, but the payback is the privilege of being very involved in raising a daughter that will be classically educated and will have a healthy respect for this country and its founding principals. It's an investment not only in her future but in the future of others in her generation.
