PDX PD is reviewing cameras.
Spirit said they'll make good for the loss.
More to follow, I guess.
No dice on the camera review. Thief is probably an employee who knows where the cameras are, and aren't.
That's just a guess, of course, but seems like a reasonable assumption.

Those Air Tags work with Android equipped OS? Seems like a great idea to use them in my Pelican cases for gun storage/travel setups.
Android has it's own trackers as the Apple product won't work. Here is an article to get you started:

Note that the Apple AirTag has a longer range because any Apple device close enough to sense it will report it like it's part of a mesh network. Not sure if any of the Android apps do the same and even if they do it would only work on other Android devices with the same app. On Apple it's built in and active by default.

I think they both work by 'pinging' other phones (either Apple or Android) that are in the area. Once your bag ends up in a remote waiting area with no or only occasional phones in the area, they do not show up. At London Heathrow, our bags were invisible for hours (no guns for that trip btw). It also happens at some domestic airports. The AirTags worked fine for my kiddo in Nigeria.

I use AirTags but have an Android, so my wife tracks my cases, even if I'm traveling alone. It is interesting that Androids notice that Apple tags are with me and alerts you to this; it just doesn't track them. (This is because pervs were placing AirTags in women's bags without them noticing and then following them.

For hotel rooms… I take an old iPhone, get it on hotel WiFi & point it at the door. Then I use the Manything app on my carry iPhone & the old phone.
I set it up to notify of any movement. Nobody has ever violated my space but when I return to the room later, I get notified that movement was detected (my opening the door).

Like all other industries, airlines just don't perform like they used to. About a year ago I flew Swiss Air back from Geneva via London. My checked luggage ended up in Vancouver, Canada. Contacted Swiss Air to rectify. So they flew it from Vancouver, Canada to Munich, Germany. Oops. Then they flew it from Munich, Germany to Denver, Colorado. Oops. All the while I'm on the phone with them saying WTF? Finally they sent it back to square one, Geneva again, in order to get it right and send to PDX.

Let's face it. Service industries suck these days. After my experience with Swiss Air I would never risk a firearm with an airline.
