I'm seeing ads, (and a TON OF THEM I MIGHT AD) purportedly by GOA, declaring Pam Bondi & the DOJ are seeking to establish a gun control list. Thereby the GOA is seeking donations to help stop this. Anyone else seeing this?
I've donated to GOA in the past but IF this is true...never-more.

I stopped donated as soon as the beggar mail started spamming my mail box. One donation is all it took for "please sir, I want some more" on the weekly. Screw em. And SAF, NRA and all the other needy little bubblegums with their hands out, too.

On the GOA website. It appears they are misrepresenting or 'convoluting' some entirely different issues that have previously been reported on in the news.

I dumped the NRA as LaPierre was wasting money by the bushels. I swear that every month I received another money request.
I also got a video in the mail from them and then later a bill for that unrequested video. I mailed the video back and sent a letter complaining of the constant money requests and unsolicited merchandise.
I wouldn't be surprised if GOA is ramping up to fill their coffers looking forward to fewer newer members due to what's happening with the Govt, no matter what GOA's ads say.
I seriously believe the NRA is, or was a good thing, but Old Wayne forked a lot of us. It's actually amazing to me that he got booted. Remember when you would hear gun grabbers complaining about the NRA's power? Yeah, haven't heard that for a long time, sadly. It would be nice if there was a force like that again.
I've been watching and I may rejoin the NRA. Still on that fence.

I've found just giving an anonymous donation to whatever org is fighting a particular battle I find important accomplishes the goal without subjecting myself to the 'needy cousin' arm of the organization.

And while it may benefit them in the 'short term' how about 'down the road' ?

Will they loose respect with gun owners faster than the NRA do to possibly being not as 'popular' or as well known?.

Looking back at my own 'history' the NRA was always first and foremost on the 'forefront' as a gun rights Org. Quite frankly I wasn't aware of many of the other until much later on.

I have to say, I find this hard to believe.

Now, if you had said every day, or even every week, I might have believed you. :D Sheesh. When they're running one of their "upgrade your membership" campaigns, I may get multiple email requests the same day. I'm a life member, but until I'm convinced they have righted the post-Lapierre ship, I'm not responding.

I have been seeing the ads and I realize that shocking headlines make income. Ask the corporate news or YouTube/tik tok/facebook creators about that. On the other hand I know Pam bondi is no friend of the gun owner. I'm also very aware that goa has been carrying the ball that the nra fumbled a decade or more ago. It looks to me like they're the new big kid on the block for the gun rights lobby and that's where I'm sending my money these days. I do like how they're not wasting any money on shooting centers, museums, television and magazines. Putting money to work lobbying and suing is where it needs to go! They have been doing some heavy lifting for those of us who don't live in free states and they have made progress with the new nfa changes and hopefully future abolishment. So here's the deal for me, if they continue to get results I'll continue to send them cash.

I dont much like their clickbate ad tactics . I am a member and I understand that they need money to do the work they do though. Im also lifetime NRA which at this point I consider a total waste of money. At least GOA does something useful. I'll still send them money.

Not again? This thread has turned into a bash the NRA so we can afford another latte thread.

Don't you think maybe, just maybe, they're on the comeback trail? I'm cautiously optimistic, but Wayne did some major damage. (I think he did some good in his early days but took advantage of his position later.)

I certainly hope so. He did a lot of damage on the way out and they have a lot of ground to cover to get their members back to donating, but it would be nice to have them back up to full strength.

It was so egregious theyre going to have to work hard to regain trust. Its not going to come automatically after Wayne spent years draining the coffers and ignoring the governments raping of the second amendment to fill his families pockets.

FWIW, the DOJ did ask for membership lists as a means of proving who is covered under the ruling, and their request was denied. Yes it's probably being overblown a bit, but to be fair DOJ should know better than to ask for something like that. Any idiot with half a brain could tell them that asking for the membership lists of a group who feels (rightfully) that they've been targeted by the government is gonna cause a backlash.

As for GOA using scare tactics to drum up donations, organizations are fallible - they make mistakes and do stupid crap. They're riding the downward slope of the wave and probably don't recognize that the perpetual "sky is falling" messaging is turning people off. It's the responsibility of their members and contributors to hold them accountable.

Rather than cut off your contributions, tell them that from your perspective they appear to be manufacturing threats to gain donations, that there are more than enough real concerns they can hammer on without having to make crap up, and that as a contributor this is a breach of trust that causes you to question whether or not to continue supporting them. If enough people start pushing back they'll either get the message and unscrew themselves, or lose donations. Don't leave silently - make sure they hear your voice before you walk away.
