Got the Gen 6 G45 today. Taking it out tomorrow. Oh it does definitely feel WAY better in my hands than the Gen 5. All the little updates are positive for me. Even the beavertail that I didn't like the look of, feels way better. Let's see how it feels being used tomorrow.

I'm iffy about the new extractor retainer doohickey and the elimination of the proven effective extractor plunger to favor crybaby optics guys so things don't get bound up when they don't pay attention and use the wrong screws.

Just over 200 rds through it today. Ran awesome, but it is a glock. Even with the crappy sights, it was good. Accurate. The beavertail, palm swells and grip texture all made it so much better to shoot. I'm very happy with it so far.

I think what sold me from my first encounter with one was the palm swell. It felt really great in my hand on top of the grip texture

The grip is nice. I hate the beaver tail though. I have a salient on the way that has a beaver tail and I'm trying to decide if I want to take a dremel to it or not. lol.

I'll get one when they finally switch to DA/SA with a hammer, steel or aluminum frames and a trigger that doesn't feel like a lamp switch.

NW Armory Tigard had G17 and G19 Gen6s in stock.

If someone is looking to save money they have a slighty used g17 gen6 for $520.

Story goes a old fart revolver guy bought it, shot it, and returned it the next morning… because old fart.

I don't like the beavertail for looks, and just assumed I would hate that, but for actual shooting it was kind of nice. I have no issues with slide bites on the older ones, this just adds a more comfortable feel.

Shooting yes. Drawing from appendix concealed they are painful and get in the way. If I was running it OWB in a duty style holster I wouldn't mind the beaver tail at all.

I can see that. I haven't tried carrying it yet, as I have others for that. Definitely can see how that could create an issue.

When I draw my thumb runs right over the back plate. So with a beaver tail it's like a ledge that gets jammed into the middle portion of my thumb. It's legitimately painful.

Plus I've noticed that guns with extended beaver tails for me personally are extremely uncomfortable to carry. I carry my gun pretty high above the waist band for quick access/full purchase on the grip and because of that the beaver tail jams into my ribs/stomach when bending at the waist or sitting in the car. Leaving wonderful bruises.

I'm sure the Gen 6 is great. I'm in no rush to get one but if I do I'll be removing that beaver tail or isolating it to only OWB use.

I can see that. I also run with my thumb across back for the draw.

Fun for the range, bedside, etc, but may be a challenge for various carry positions. I typically carry iwb around 3 or 4 o'clock, so should be ok for me if I decide to carry it.

The beaver tail not being removable is a stupid decision. Should have just brought back the finger grooves
